It had been four hours since the Owens' siblings got home, the aroma of spices and homemade cornbread wafted through the house.

Tyler stood in front of the stove, stirring the pot of his dad's famous chili while country music played lowly in the background.

He was definitely the cook of the family, once Hannah forgot to add water to her microwave mac and cheese and caught the container on fire. After that her cooking privileges were revoked.

The timer on the oven sounded and Tyler quickly turned it off, not wanting to wake Hannah. He brought the spoon he had been using to stir the chili to his lips, whistling lowly as the flavors burst across his taste buds.

"Damn that's good!" Tyler hummed setting the spoon down on the counter

Tyler grabbed an oven mitt and opened the oven, wincing as the heat from inside burnt his face and eyes slightly. He carefully pulled the cornbread out of the oven, inhaling the delicious smell that brought back fond memories.

Memories of Saturday nights watching college football with his dad while his mom baked her famous corn bread to go with the chili that had been simmering all day. It's the small things like her corn bread and their dad's chill that help keep their memories alive.

The wranglers were going to be coming over soon to welcome Hannah back home, it was also Saturday and Arkansas was playing Texas for their annual rivalry game which was something they couldn't miss.

Tyler checked the clock on the stove and saw that it was almost 6:30 and kickoff was supposed to be at 7:30 and he knew Hannah wouldn't want to miss the pregame coverage on sports center.

Double checking that the temperature on the stove was turned down just enough to allow the chili to simmer but not scorch on the bottom, Tyler made his way to the stairs and up to Hannah's room.

Stopping in front of her door, Tyler smiled softly reaching up and tracing sign that spelt Hannah's name their mother made her. Annie Owens was very crafty, she loved making her kids all kinds of homemade trinkets and what not.

She had made each of them a little sign with their names on it to hang on their bedroom doors. Tyler's, that had gotten destroyed when the tornado hit their home, was painted a dark blue. Hannah's, which had miraculously survived the storm with only a crack going through the middle of the wood, was painted light pink.

Tyler had found her sign after the storm in the creek next to their house and he repaired it as best he could and put a fresh coat of paint on it since he knew how much it meant to Hannah to have something her mother made specifically for her.
