The second Hannah Lee Owens stepped off that airplane from Hawaii, where she had just been celebrating her graduation from college with some of her girlfriends, she couldn't wipe the smile off her face.

Arkansas welcomed her with its normal humidity and sunshine, the sun kissed blonde grabbed her bags from baggage claim and sauntered through the airport.

After graduating from The University of Arkansas with a double major of Meteorology and Environmental Sciences, she had agencies from all over the country contacting her for work.

Promises of large salaries, nice houses and apartments, and fancy offices were just some of the offers she had been given.

But Hannah had always known what she wanted to do after graduating, and who she wanted to do it with. She didn't want all her hard work to go to waste by getting stuck behind a desk, she wanted to be out there in the field making a difference.

What better way to do that than chasing?

Stepping out of the airport, her eyes trailed around the pickup area searching for her ride. It didn't take her long to find it, the large red truck sticking out like a sore thumb.

A familiar figure stepping out of the truck, wearing his trademark stetson on his head and sunglasses with a large grin on his face.

"Hannah Lee! There's my little wild child!" Her big brother, Tyler exclaimed attracting attention from everyone around them

Hannah just cackled, not phased at all by the stares and skipped towards him with a large smile on her face.

"Ty! You son of a gun!" Hannah squealed before jumping into his open arms. "Hope ya didn't miss me too much."

Tyler relished in the moment he was able to engulf his baby sister in his strong hold, knowing the older she got the less excited she would get to see him. He wouldn't be her favorite person anymore and as much as he hated it, that's just what happens when you grow up.

But having Hannah here with him now is enough.

"You kidding? I got to have a whole 2 weeks free of my baby sister killing my game." Tyler teased and Hannah rolled her eyes

"Your game sucks on its own, ain't got a thing to do with me." Hannah scoffed shoving his shoulder

"Ok! Ok, I did not come pick you up just to get attacked. Let's get you home so you can unpack." Tyler ruffled her hair making Hannah smack at his hands

"Stop! God, you're so annoying." Hannah huffed smoothing down her shoulder length hair

"You love me." Tyler grinned before walking to grab her bags that had been left on the curb while they reunited

Hannah just shook her head with a fond smile before moving to climb into the passenger's seat, leaving Tyler to load all her luggage. Well, her 3 bags but Tyler would act like she packed her entire wardrobe.

As he tossed her bags into the backseat, Hannah scolded him about being careful with her things but Tyler just rolled his eyes and tossed another bag in making her huff.

"What do you have in here, a fucking rock?" Tyler questioned as he loaded her last and most heavy bag

"Of course not, just my shoes and hair products. I was gone for 2 weeks ya know? I don't just roll out of bed looking this perfect, it takes work." Hannah smirked and Tyler rolled his eyes

"I'll bet." Tyler closed the back door before Hannah could reply

Tyler came around the front of the truck and climbed into the drivers seat before sighing, the short time he had been out in the sun already caused sweat to build on his forehead.

Turning on the car, he didn't waste a moment before cranking on the AC and Hannah sighed at the feeling of the cool air nipping at her skin.

"Hey, I may give you shit but I'm really glad you're gonna be hanging with me." Tyler nudged Hannah's shoulder with a genuine smile on his face

It was an easy choice, Hannah wanted to be out in the field making a difference and Tyler did that every day with his storm chasing team. The decision to be apart of his team was a no brainer, and Hannah couldn't wait to get started.

Luckily, everyone on Tyler's team knew and loved Hannah so the transition should be an easy one and she couldn't wait to see them all again.

Boone had actually grown up next door to the Owens family and Tyler and him have been best friends since before Hannah was even born.

Lily, Dani, and Dexter came much later but each of them fit into the group like glue and everyone was very close. Hannah wouldn't be able to find another group like this if she tried.

"Me too, big brother. Now let's get this show on the road, my bed is calling my name." Hannah got comfortable in her seat, bringing her legs up so she was sitting criss crossed

"Enjoy it while you can, we head out Saturday with the team. Oklahoma baby!" Tyler whistled in excitement before pulling out of the pickup line

"Can't wait!" Hannah whooped turning to look out her window with a grin on her face

As Tyler's county music flowed through the speakers of his truck, Hannah couldn't help but feel at home as she leaned back into her seat watching the hilly plains of Arkansas pass them by.

Authors Note:

Hey y'all!

First chapter is done! Sorry it's so short, normally my chapters are longer but I do want to stretch the book out into about 20-25 chapters so the chapters may be a little shorter.

These first few chapters without the plot of the movie are definitely going to be about this length but when we get into the actual plot they will get longer! I just want to give you a few chapters of backstory before we start!!

I'm so excited to write for Hannah! She's definitely going to be spunky, fun, wild, crazy, and wear her heart on her sleeve! The epitome of a good ole southern girl!

And the dynamic I have planned for her and Scott is going to be so fun for me to write. Definitely a lot of mutual bickering that will go on between the two of them, a lot of teasing and stuff like that so I'm really excited about that!

Please vote and comment if you enjoyed this chapter! And any kind of advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated, I love hearing from you!!

I'll see you next chapter!!
