Red Hood barrelled through the woods, Red Robin keeping pace with him. They had night vision in their masks, drenching the near pitch-black dark in red, allowing them to see.

Jason hated himself for sending Gwen off into woods in the middle of the night. Alone. While it was the best place to hide... it was also the best place to be hunted down and get caught.

He'd found her boots at the edge of the woods, and it had made her light indents in the earth harder to follow for a while. Then he saw the wide trail, beaten down by several pairs of heavy feet where someone picked up her trail before he did. Now his only hope was that he and Tim found the goons before the goons found Gwen.

They found one goon's body in a tree a few meters before they came to a grinding halt. Two bodies lay motionless in a small clearing. Red Hood could see through his scanners that at least one of them was alive.

No...

Fuck. Red Hood didn't bother keeping the curses under his breath, swearing up a storm that would make a sailor blush.

Red Robin knelt by the girl's side and examined her head. "She's fine but unconscious. I'm surprised they didn't kill her."

Red Hood scanned the area. The ground had been flattened by a small group of people, but a patch ground cover had been disturbed in one area. It looked like someone had been dragged and-

His stomach dropped when he saw the amount of blood-Gwen blood was mixed in with those drag marks.

Red Robin took out a roll of neon tape from his belt and circled the tree with it to mark the area. "Hood, there's not enough blood on the scene for them to have killed her. Plus, there's-"

"I know she's not dead yet, Condom Head. That doesn't mean a time if Joker's got her." Red Hood glared at his brother.

Wouldn't he know if she were dead? Wouldn't feel it in his bones if she left this world without him?

Red Hood stomped over to the girl. He fumbled with his belt and took out a canteen of water. He unscrewed the cap and splashed the girl in the face with it.

The girl jolted awake. "Wha-wha-"

"Where did they take her?" Red Hood grabbed the girl's arm.

She stared at with round, terrified eye. "Wha-who? The girl in the red dress?"

Red Robin's gloved hand landed on Red Hood's shoulder, but he slapped it away. "She's not a criminal, Hood. He a victim. Let her go."

Red Hood released his grip, and the girl fell to the ground. "Yes, the girl in the red dress. Start talking."

Red Robin knelt down next to her. "Hey, it's okay. You're not in trouble, but she's a friend of ours and we need to know so we can help her. Just start at the beginning when the goons came."
