The sun had barely risen over the distant mountains as Cosmos and Galaxia soared back toward Canterlot. The weight of the Astral Codex, carefully bound and stored in Galaxia's saddlebag, seemed heavier than it should have been—carrying with it the fate of the entire kingdom. As they approached the city, the great towers of Canterlot gleamed in the soft morning light, but there was an unmistakable tension in the air, a sense of anticipation for the battle that lay ahead.

They landed gracefully in the palace courtyard, where Star Quill and the royal council were waiting. The city had grown quiet in their absence, its once-bustling streets subdued as the citizens of Canterlot awaited their rulers' return.

Star Quill rushed forward, concern etched across his face. "Your Majesties! We feared the worst. Did you find what you were seeking?"

Galaxia nodded, her gaze steady. "We did. The magic of the Astral Order still exists, but it is not a power that can be wielded lightly. It requires unity—true unity, not only between us but among our people."

Cosmos added, "We must prepare Canterlot for the coming battle, but not just in arms. We need to bring the kingdom together in spirit. The magic we discovered will only work if we are one in heart and purpose."

Star Quill's brow furrowed. "That's no easy task, my lord. The people are frightened. The attack by Nocturnus has left them divided, uncertain of what lies ahead."

Galaxia's expression softened. "We know. Which is why we must reach out to the other realms in Equestria. If we are to stand any chance against Nocturnus, Canterlot cannot face him alone."

Later that day, the royal council gathered once more in the palace's grand hall. Maps of Equestria were spread out before them, and the advisors spoke in hushed tones, debating strategies and alliances. Galaxia and Cosmos stood at the head of the table, their presence commanding the room's attention.

Cosmos spoke first. "We've learned that the power to defeat Nocturnus lies in unity. But this is not a fight that Canterlot can win on its own. We must send envoys to the other kingdoms of Equestria—to forge alliances and bring their strength to our cause."

Galaxia nodded in agreement. "The Astral Codex speaks of ancient bonds between the realms, bonds that can be renewed if we show our commitment to peace and harmony. Nocturnus threatens all of Equestria, and every kingdom must know that."

The council murmured in agreement, but one voice—Lady Ironwing, the commander of Canterlot's military forces—raised a question. "And what of the Shadowlands?" she asked, her eyes sharp. "They have long held neutral ground, but Nocturnus is a force from their depths. Should we not also seek their support—or at least, ensure they do not aid him?"

Cosmos exchanged a glance with Galaxia. The Shadowlands had always been a mysterious and secretive realm, a place where few dared to venture. But Lady Ironwing was right. They couldn't afford to leave any stone unturned.

"We will send emissaries to the Shadowlands," Cosmos agreed. "But we must approach them with care. They may hold answers we cannot find elsewhere."

By midday, royal messengers had been dispatched to the far corners of Equestria. To the Realm of the Crystal Empire, where their closest allies dwelled, letters of alliance were sent, urging them to stand united in the face of Nocturnus's shadow. Messages were also sent to the rulers of Cloudsdale, the griffon realms, and even the distant kingdoms of Saddle Arabia.

But perhaps the most important message was entrusted to a small, discreet group of Canterlot's finest diplomats—the envoy to the Shadowlands.

Galaxia oversaw their departure personally, watching as the group mounted their swiftest steeds and disappeared into the distance. The Shadowlands had always been shrouded in mystery, their people rumored to practice magic long forgotten by the rest of Equestria. If they could be persuaded to aid in the fight against Nocturnus, it could turn the tide.

With the envoys sent, Cosmos and Galaxia turned their attention to Canterlot itself. They had to ensure that their own people were prepared for the trials ahead, not just physically, but emotionally.

The Festival of Unity had been the first step toward uniting Canterlot's diverse population. Now, with the threat of war looming, Cosmos and Galaxia worked tirelessly to rebuild that spirit of togetherness. They visited every part of the city, speaking to citizens personally, ensuring that they knew what was at stake.

Galaxia, with her gentle yet commanding presence, spoke to the artisans, the merchants, and the scholars, reminding them of Canterlot's strength in unity. "We are more than a city," she said. "We are a beacon of hope for all of Equestria. Together, we can push back the darkness."

Cosmos, meanwhile, met with the city's defenders, rallying the soldiers, knights, and even the city's volunteer forces. "We are Canterlot," he declared to them, his voice strong. "And Canterlot will not fall. Not to Nocturnus, not to any force that threatens our home. Stand strong, for we fight not only for ourselves but for all of Equestria."

Days passed as the kingdom prepared, and soon, the first envoy returned—this one from the Crystal Empire.

The messenger arrived breathless but with a glint of hope in her eyes. "Your Majesties, Empress Amore sends her greetings," she said, bowing before Cosmos and Galaxia. "She pledges her full support to your cause. The Crystal Empire stands with Canterlot."

The news sent a ripple of relief through the palace. The Crystal Empire's aid would bring not only soldiers but powerful crystal magic, known for its ability to shield against dark forces. It was the first sign that their plea for unity had not gone unanswered.

Despite their efforts, a sense of unease continued to grow in Canterlot. The skies over the kingdom had grown darker, as if Nocturnus's shadow was creeping ever closer. Reports from the outer villages spoke of strange occurrences—crops withering overnight, animals disappearing, and ponies plagued by nightmares. It was clear that Nocturnus's power was growing, and time was running out.

Cosmos and Galaxia knew they had to act swiftly. The Astral Codex had provided them with the knowledge they needed to wield the magic of the stars, but it required more than just their own strength. The entire kingdom needed to stand as one.

In the palace's grand hall, Cosmos and Galaxia held one final meeting with their council. "The alliances are forming, but we need more than promises," Galaxia said, her voice firm. "We need every pony in Canterlot to believe—to truly believe—that we can overcome Nocturnus."

Cosmos nodded, his expression determined. "We will hold a grand assembly in the city square. Every citizen, every leader, every voice in Canterlot must be there. This will be our final rallying cry before the battle begins."

As dusk fell over Canterlot, the city square filled with ponies from every walk of life. Merchants, scholars, artisans, soldiers—every pony stood shoulder to shoulder, their faces lit by the flickering glow of torches. The air buzzed with anticipation, a mix of fear and hope.

Cosmos and Galaxia stood on a platform at the head of the square, looking out over their people. For a moment, neither of them spoke, allowing the weight of the moment to settle over the crowd.

Then, Cosmos stepped forward, his voice strong and clear. "We stand at the edge of darkness," he began, his words carrying over the sea of faces. "But we are not afraid. Nocturnus may have tried to divide us, to spread fear and doubt, but he has failed. For we are Canterlot, and together, we are stronger than any shadow!"

A murmur of agreement rippled through the crowd, growing louder as Galaxia took her place beside him.

"We have the magic of the stars," Galaxia continued, "but that magic will only work if we stand as one. Look around you—your friends, your neighbors, your fellow ponies. We are all in this together, and together, we will prevail!"

The crowd erupted in cheers, the sound filling the air and echoing off the buildings of Canterlot. For the first time since Nocturnus's attack, the city felt truly united. A single force of hope, standing against the darkness.
