Jungkook jolted awake, gasping for breath, his heart racing like he had just run a marathon. The dream—that dream—had come back again. It felt so real, like he was living it all over again. The cherry blossoms, the royal palace, the girl in the hanbok... her. He could see her so clearly now, the way her eyes sparkled with love, her smile only meant for him. But then, there was always the same ending—the darkness closing in, the shouts of soldiers, and the cold steel of a blade piercing through them both.
It made no sense. Why was he having these dreams? They weren't just weird random nightmares—no, they were too detailed, too... familiar. Like he had actually lived through it. He had seen everything—her, the way they held each other close, even though they weren't supposed to. Their love was forbidden, but they didn't care. They were ready to die for each other. And in the end... they did.
Jungkook shook his head, trying to shake off the heavy feeling in his chest. It was just a dream, right? No way it could be real. He barely even remembered the details once he was fully awake, except for her face. That face wouldn't leave his mind, no matter how much he tried to forget.
But it was just a coincidence. Dreams were weird like that.
Right?
He rolled out of bed and glanced at his phone. First day at a new school. Great. That's exactly what he needed—a whole new set of people, a new place, when his mind was still stuck in that dream.
Later that day, as he walked into his new classroom, his eyes casually scanned the students. And then, they locked onto someone. Her.
The girl from his dream.
Jungkook's heart stopped. For a split second, he thought he was still dreaming. She was sitting right there, staring back at him, looking just as shocked as he felt. There was no way. This couldn't be happening. The face he had seen in his dreams for months—no, years—was sitting right in front of him.
"Hi, I'm Jungkook," he said when the teacher introduced him to the class, but his voice sounded distant even to him. His mind was racing. This was too much of a coincidence. Something about this girl was pulling him in. He couldn't explain it, but he felt like he knew her. And it wasn't just from some dream.
As he took the empty seat beside her, his heart pounded even louder. He had no idea who she really was—or why he kept dreaming about their tragic love—but something told him this was only the beginning.
And somehow, deep down, he knew: fate had brought them back together.
But were they destined to be torn apart all over again?
Till Death Do Us Apart—the past was far from finished with them.
