Darius have been sitting in his black couch in front of his room's wide balcony with potted fern plants, orchids and sun flowers planted outside. It was his mother's favorite past time to collect assorted kind of flowers and put it all around their house when she was still alive. He was thinking deeply but couldn't thought of anything. The heavy rain has start to pour as he could see the wind swaying the mahogany trees. His heavy heart have been so uneasy to bear. The gloomy weather seems to suit his grief.
His father's wake down the main hall of their house will be until tonight and he doesn't know what to do with himself after the burial tomorrow.
He reminisce one of his conversations with his dad. The good old times with the great old guy.
Son, make sure to focus with your studies. Okay? You will inherit everything that I worked hard for and when it's time, I want you to be ready. His father's hopeful words to him.
Dad, I would never be half the man you are. Mr. Denver Eduards is quite a powerful name in the field of computer technology. He muttered with less confidence.
No son, I have faith in you. One day, you will be the CEO of our company and you will be the best! His dad path him in his shoulder and proudly smiled at him.
Dad, wherever you are right now. I just want you to know that I am not ready to lose you. Why do you have to leave so soon? He whispered to himself. Tears rolling in his eyes down to his cheeks.
His cellphone ringing and it was Erin. Could it be that she already knew?
Hello? He softly answered.
Darius, where are you? Erin's voice echoed in the other end.
I'm in my room. His voice trembling as he wipe his tears.
I'm coming. She briefly said and hang up the phone.
Darius nearly forgot that he still have someone to turn to beside his father. It's Erin. His bestfriend. Maybe it was so sudden that he forgot to inform her about his father's death or he refuse to inform her because it was their exam week and he doesn't want her to worry about him.
I wish things will stay the same between the two of us in the future. She really is like a family to me. He sighed thinking about Erin and the thought of losing her like losing both his parents.
His thoughts got interrupted when he heard a knock at his room's door.
Come in, please. He slightly shouted without looking at the door.
The door opens and it was Erin. She has a sad face and her upper body is wet from the pouring rain outside. She is shivering.
Hey, didn't you have any umbrella? Did you even ride the bus or was just running? He asked her with concern.
I'm okay. Are you? She answered back.
He didn't make any comments. Instead he was busy looking for some dry clothes in his huge closet full of clothes. He saw a small blue t-shirt with a Supeman logo on it.
Here's a t-shirt that might fit in you. He toast it to her.
She grabbed it and headed to his bathroom to change her upper clothing.
After awhile she came back wearing his t-shirt.
It looks good on you. He admitted to her.
Thank you. She shortly said and continued.
This t-shirt. I remember this. You used to wear it during our high school gathering.
Yes, it was one of my favorites. He smiled.
Erin put her hand on his shoulder and sit with him on the couch.
I'm sorry to hear about your dad. She sadly uttered. I'm surely gonna miss him, too.
Thank you for being here with me. He said to her as he looks into her concerned eyes. He felt like hugging her but before he could resist his thoughts, she was already hugging him with her arms wrapped around his body.
She firmly hugs him and whisper softly to his left ear.
I am here for you. Okay? Don't ever let me be the last one to know about any important news about you. I hate it when you keep secrets with me. Her voice seems music to his.
He entwined his both arms to her body and hugged her even tightly. He couldn't speak at all. He is just happy to have her and her sweet gesture made him feel glad to have her at this moment in time. Her warm embrace and cool scent. He's such one lucky dude to have and hold her. He felt a bit better now. Never did he expect that a hug could be such a relief to his melancholy.

Awwww, what a sweet thing to have such a concern and loving bestfriend. I love Erin! It seems that she stole Darius sadness for a moment with her warm embrace.
