⚔️🥀

Navia seemed to have been warming up to me. Everything was going great. I wanted to believe that, but something was telling me there was more to this. It was hard to believe we could just go back to being friends like that. It had been over a month since her fathers death, surely she's not done grieving. It felt like everything was going by too quickly, and too smoothly. But I couldn't complain, this is exactly what I was hoping for.

I wasn't entirely sure if I had her forgiveness. She had bailed out on our meeting those two weeks. I don't think she was actually 'busy,' but I had no other choice but to believe her. Asking any further questions could result in Navia shutting out, and I wanted her to be completely honest with me. If she wanted me dead, then I could take that. It was only fair.

"Vi!" I called out to the girl I was training, that's what she told me to call her. "Are you ready? This is one of our last practices, don't forget." I had been training her for a while, but I was starting an important job at the Fortress of Meropide and couldn't train her then. So we agreed to end our practices then.

She turned around and gave me a thumbs up.

I gave her a quick nod before starting the duel. Vi's technique was getting much better. I had even started slightly struggling at times while sparring her, but she was not quite close enough to beat me. Still, I had come out with a few cuts after our practices since I didn't bother wearing protective gear, which, as a champion duelist, was stupid on my part, but I wouldn't come to realization of that until later.

Our training ended a little after that. I was glad Vi was getting better, but having her help me clean up some cuts after our duels was embarrassing to say the least.

"Why don't you wear the right clothes during practice? So you don't have to keep getting cuts." She asked.

"I'll wear it next time." I promised her.

After a boring day working as Lady Furina's bodyguard, I was ready to go home.
God, how I hate Mondays.
Luckily things got less boring soon.

As I was walking home, I realized Lady Furina had asked me to deliver something to Poisson for her. I wasn't quite sure of the reasoning behind delivering a letter to a citizen in Poisson, but I didn't dare question Lady Furina. I decided to head to Poisson first before going home, perhaps I could eat something there. Poisson always had good food, fish, of course. (No pun intended.)

I ended up delivering said letter to a small house by Spina Di Rosula. A nice young man answered the door when I knocked, and he thanked me for the letter. I gave him a small nod and started making my way back out of Poisson. Then I noticed a small shop, it looked like a coffee shop. The inside looked comfy through the yellowish tinted windows, and I decided to look myself if it was as cozy as it looked. A small bell attached to a rope on the top of the entrance door clashed against the door, making a ringing sound. A fragile looking man looked at the bell when it rang, I looked up with him and when I looked back down our eyes met.

"Hello." The man spoke, he had a feminine like raspy voice. One that you'd expect one of the girls working down at the Fortress of Meropide to have, but of course, it sounded much softer on a man. "How can I help you?"

I squinted my eyes and looked at the menu plastered on the counter.
"Hm, how about a Poisson Seafood Soup?" I read the name off the menu.

"I'll have that right out, ma'am."

He took longer than I expected considering the place was empty, but finally, he had brought my food to me at the table I sat at in a cute little coffee colored apron he wasn't wearing when he took my order.

The food was much better than I had hoped for. It felt good to have something on my stomach after the tedious labor Lady Furina had me do throughout the day. I could finally go home and relax for the rest of the afternoon.

As I walked on the outskirts of Poisson, I heard the unfortunate sound of a piece of machinery malfunctioning like it had gone mad coming from further out. I thought i'd check it out before returning to the city. What I saw was beyond a malfunctioning machine. A man, roughly a few years younger than Navia's father, toyed with a human-like robot. With each screw he inserted sparks came flying from the joints of the robot. And then I saw her, Navia. Her elbows sat on the table the robot laid on, and she supported her head up with each hand. I hid behind a bush in attempt to further eavesdrop. But nothing I heard was what I wanted to. They talked about stupid machinery.
Work. Must've been related to Spina Di Rosula, I thought to myself. Now that Navia was the president I assumed she had to do businesses like her father would do.
Then I heard him call her Vi. Vi, like what the girl i'd been training with told me to call her?

A/N: jeez been almost a month. i think i might finish this off in the next few chapters just because i am not good at planning and that's exactly what i didn't do for this fanfic... more lionfish content coming soon perhaps? ima start cooking up a fanfic idea. ofc wont upload until this is over with. promise i'll properly plan for the next fanfic instead of just rawdogging it!!
