Xavier didn’t expect many things in his life.
He didn’t expect his wife to die, leaving him alone with their son. He mourned her deeply—her absence, the void she left behind.
She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, an ethereal beauty that made his breath catch up even with a glance at her. She is so gorgeous that no woman can ever match her, even if she is no longer alive. She was like a flower, so innocent and carefree, spreading happiness wherever she went. She bloomed in his life, bringing joy with her giggles and laughter, so soft and gentle, like a melody played by a skilled musician. But then the flower withered, leaving him abandoned once again. The bloom that once brought so much joy dried up and died, taking with it the warmth and light she had brought into his life. Yet, she left behind something precious—a tiny version of herself, a bond that forever connected them.
Their son.
He started to live for his son, the void slowly filling itself, but the cracks were still there, with some broken corners that still hurt him.
Then the unexpected happened in his life. Siya entered his life slowly and steadily, weaving her presence into his world until he began to catch feelings for her. With each moment they spent together, those feelings grew, deepening in ways he hadn’t anticipated. He cares for her more than any other woman alive, feeling for her deeply in a way that surprises him. Yet, he wouldn’t say he loves her—no, that word feels too deep and unrealistic at the moment, especially when his late wife still resides in his heart, forever etched into his soul. She is inseparable from him, a part of him that no one can replace.
Siya has somehow managed to tear through the corner of his heart, carving out a small place for herself within him. She did it so effortlessly that he hadn’t even realised when he started feeling for her. The cracks in his heart began to heal, all because of her.
He likes the way she smiles, the way she blushes whenever he gets close, the way her eyes light up with adoration when she looks at his son. He likes it all—he likes her. And he knows that with time, his feelings for her will only deepen, growing more sincere. One day will come when he’ll love her with all his heart.
He leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes as his late wife’s face flashed before him. A sad smile tugged at his lips, and he slowly opened his eyes, gazing out of the window.
“I hope you can forgive me for letting another woman into my life, Luna,” he murmured. “Zander loves her, you know. He’s completely wrapped around her little finger.” A chuckle escaped him.
A heavy silence followed.
“Are we replacing you?” he finally asked, his voice barely above a whisper as he revealed the turmoil within him. He got no answer, only the silence of the room filled his ears.
"I don’t want to replace you, but she’s creating her own place. Tell me, Luna, what should I do?" A sigh escaped him, "You must be hating me right now, won't you?" he asked. "If you do, hate me, but don’t resent Siya for finding her way into my life. She doesn’t deserve your hatred."
