8 months later...

Sultan Osman wanted Behic to be happy in his last days. He was the one leaving, but Behic would deal with the pain. He took a pen in his hand and began writing out a decree:

Henceforth after I, Sultan Osman Khan Hazretleri, pass away,

Shezade Abdullah Khan will ascend the throne. Until he is at least of 16 years of age, Behic Sultan will be the de facto ruler of the Ottoman empire.

Signed by 𝕳𝖚𝖓𝖐𝖆𝖗𝖎𝖒 𝕾𝖚𝖑𝖙𝖆𝖓 𝕺𝖘𝖒𝖆𝖓 𝕶𝖍𝖆𝖓 𝕳𝖆𝖟𝖗𝖊𝖙𝖑𝖊𝖗𝖎.

"I will also," Sultan Osman thought to himself, "Hand Behic the most power any woman ever had in our empire. More than Hande or Dilasube Sultan."

Osman sighed as the doors opened and his one love, Behic and his two children Abdul and Sanavber rushed in to greet him.

"Baba!" They chanted. As he looked at his bright and smiling children, Osman looked at his hands. He too was very young, only aged 28, but he was already leaving this world. He truly envied others who will outlive him and see how society plays out. It brought tears to his eyes thinking that this may well be the last time he ever sees them.

"My darling children," Osman embraced them. "Behic."

He stroked Behic's chin as he gazed into her eyes, trying to commit every detail of her face to memory. The love and pain in her expression mirrored his own, and for a moment, they stood in silent understanding. There were no words that could truly capture the weight of what was happening—how could anyone prepare for the moment when time together would come to an end?

Behic's eyes glistened with unshed tears as she leaned into Osman's touch. "Don't go, Osman," she whispered, her voice barely audible but laced with desperation. "Not yet. I can't do this without you."

Osman felt his chest tighten. He wished more than anything that he could grant her wish, that he could stay by her side and watch their children grow, rule the empire, and live a life full of the love they deserved. But destiny had other plans. His time was running out, and all he could do was try to leave behind a legacy strong enough to protect them.
