Sophie's pov
I'm sitting underneath my mom's Christmas tree with Indie and all of my cousins and aunts and uncles are watching."So, Sophie how did touring with Morgan go?" My aunt asks. "Great, we had a ton of fun together" I reply.
"That's good, and I met Bailey, he's real nice" She adds."He is" I reply. I spot my little cousin Annie showing Bailey her Christmas presents and I smile at the pair.
Having Bailey and Kacey here at Christmas with us meant a lot to me and Morgan.Me and my dad haven't had any disputes yet but it's only because we have people there. I pull Bailey off into the hallway and grab his hand. "Everything ok?" He asks.
"I'm scared, that dads gonna start an argument" I mumble. "Hey, hey, it's gonna be fine he won't okay? And if he does me and Morgan will protect you baby" He assures hugging me tight.
"Okay" I reply. We walk back towards the kitchen and everyone was leaving. "Bye Sophie! It was great finally seeing you!" My aunt shouts. I wave and say goodbye to everyone.
I'm helping my mom clean the kitchen and Morgan is throwing away the stray wrapping paper that accompanied the floor.
I could tell he was aggravated that my dad wasn't helping but he didn't say anything. Bailey walks in from taking out the trash and My dad motions for him to walk over.
Morgan moves closer to get in on the conversation. "So your a musician huh?" Dad asks. "Yes sir" Bailey replies.
"You travel a lot?" He asks. "Just a bit, I've not been on many tours" Bailey replies."Where are you from? Curious because of your accent" He adds. "Illinois" Bailey replies. It may have seemed like they were getting along but I could tell my dad was trying to take a stab at Morgan.
"Seems like tour wouldn't let you come home a lot" he mentions. I sigh and hang my head low as I wash the dishes. Morgan walks behind me and whispers in my ear. "Don't let him get to you it's fine"
"He's badmouthing you, what hurts you hurts me Mo" I reply. "He can badmouth me all day, as long as he doesn't say anything about you" He adds with a reassuring pat on my back.
We are all sitting in the living room, me next to Bailey, Morgan next to Kacey, Mama in the chair with Indie, and dad in his recliner.
His unnecessary jokes made my blood boil more every second I sat there. Morgan was mad too I could tell.
Our final straw was one joke in particular."If soph went to college she could've been like that" He says pointing towards the tv at a lawyer commercial.
I scoff and sigh angrily before storming to the kitchen to grab my purse.Bailey followed behind me as I walked towards the door. "I'm done with his shit, if he thinks his jokes are funny he can kiss my ass" I spat angrily.
I could hear Morgan chewing him out but I couldn't understand exactly what was said. Kacey walked out with Indie and apologized.
"It's fine Kacey, it's no one's fault" I assure. I hop in Baileys truck and break down from the stress that I'd been holding in.
"Oh Baby, don't cry" Bailey says reaching for my hand. I sniffle as I look out the window.
Baileys pov
It breaks me to see her cry and I can't even do anything to help. We arrived back at my house and she had calmed herself down."You ok?" I ask. "It's embarrassing Bailey" She mumbles. "What is?" I ask. "It's embarrassing that he acts like that with you around, I'm so sorry" She replies.
"No, don't say sorry honey, it's not your fault" I add hugging her tight. I grab her hand and lead her towards my bedroom. "Just take a second" I instruct putting my arm around her.
