"hey bird!" his eyes momentarily shifted away from the ice cold beer sitting in his large hand onto his greatest rival and somewhat friend, erving "magic" johnson excitedly greeted the older man; bringing much unwanted attention to both basketball stars, annoying larry before he even said a full sentence to him."jesus johnson aren't you ever tired?" he sighed sleepily, rubbing his rough fingers against his temple in an attempt soothe the brooding headache forming from merely being around the energetic athlete.
"i was, but the little lady over there woke me up real quick if you're picking up what i'm putting down." magic tilted his head towards the waitress across the room serving some of his teammates, his annoyingly charming smirk on full display as he caught larry up on the dirty details of his previous hours.
"figures, you fuck any woman you see; i'd be surprised if there was a woman you're not related to that you haven't slept with." larry shrugged, truly not surprised by magic's confession.
"don't do me like that man, i got self control; in fact there's this new girl on our cheerleading team, BEAUTIFUL, i mean she's drop dead gorgeous and she's tammi's little sister so you know she's a looker!" larry's attention was successfully peeked this time as it was a rarity that magic kept his control around such an apparently beautiful woman.
"you for real johnson, i didn't think you had in it you." he chuckled deeply, taking a swig from the half empty glass as magic continued.
"trust me bird, it's not like i don't wanna bed her 'cause believe me when i say I'M FEENING for this girl; but whenever i try to flirt with her it's like it completely goes over her head, i mean chico told me she was sheltered by her parents before she came down here but i didn't think she was so innocent." an amused smile spread across larry's thin lips as he listened to magic's frustrated rant.
"man i gotta see this girl if you're THAT desperate to sleep with her." larry laughed, not convinced that any woman was worth this much whining.
"you're laughing now bird, but when you meet her you're gonna feel the same way i do; give me a minute." magic strode away, leaving larry shaking his head as he sipped on his alcoholic beverage.
"there's no way in hell that this girl is that
beautiful-" just as quickly as the doubtful words left his mouth they were just as quickly disproven, as the second magic walked back into the hotel's bar with this mystery woman in tow larry felt the entirety of his being turn red hot.magic's description didn't do her beauty justice, in larry's eyes she was an angel that god himself sent on this earth to brighten the world's of every person she strolled past.
"ludie this is larry, larry this is ludie say hi." magic grinned widely, already knowing by the mesmerized look in larry's eyes that he was proven right.
"hi!" even her voice was heavenly, it was soft yet husky; it was sweet like honey and filled whoever heard it with the most severe case of butterflies.
"h-hi." he stuttered, he never stuttered and magic immediately caught onto it.
"wow ludie, i think he likes you." magic teased the two, earning himself a intensely sharp glare from the intimidating male while ludie's light skin noticeably reddened in response to magic's comment.
"oh hush magic i'm sure it was just a misstep." she brushed aside his taunting, her inexperience with men blinding her ability to recognize their intrigue in her.
"yeah man shut the fuck up." he grumbled, the embarrassed scowl on his face hidden in his cup as he chugged down the remainder of his beer; hoping it would settle the rapid fluttering in his chiseled stomach.
"my bad, my bad i just thought y'all would be cute together; not cuter than you and i could be of course but cute." larry rolled his eyes at magic's flirtatious remark, a bitter feeling consumed him as he watched ludie giggle at their shared companion.
"be quiet magic you know we wouldn't work out." the bitter feeling larry initially felt washed away when ludie straightforwardly shot the playboy down, the thought of magic even looking at ludie in a sensuous way displeased him immensely.
"come on ludie, give a nigga a chance!" magic pleaded with the younger woman, making her snicker sweetly; her genuine laughter made larry's heartbeat quicken.
"i already told you magic you're not my type of guy." she gently patted his shoulder, not wanting to injure the fragile ego her sister informed her about.
"i can be anything you want me to be baby, just let me have you ludie." she shook her own head at his antics, "bye magic, i gotta go get some sleep." she ignored him; mimicking larry's earlier sentiment in regard to magic's never ending energy.
but before she returned to her room she sent larry a shy wave and a meek, "goodnight."
when she was gone magic remained persistent, "i'm gonna get her to go out with me one of these days." larry rung the nearby bell; alerting the bartender he wanted another drink, muttering quietly to himself as his mind swarmed with the now permanent image of ludie waving goodbye.
"not if i get to her first.".
