𝐀𝐆𝐄 ☆✩★ 19 YEARS OLD"yo kev!" kevin momentarily took his attention off the basketball sitting in the palm of his large hand to put it on his friend whose house they were currently practicing at.
"what's up cam?" he asked, preoccupying his lanky fingers as he dribbled the leathery exterior onto the cement cameron's backyard basketball court was built on.
"i just wanted to let you know tamara's finna come over." kevin's interest was peaked at the mention of the younger woman.
"what's she coming over for?" he asked in a careless tone, trying not to make his feelings of anticipation obvious as he'd been dying to get a moment alone with cameron's angelic little sister.
"she and our dad got into a fight over this guy she really seems to like." kevin's mood faltered when cameron answered, "so she has a boyfriend?" confused by his friend's sudden intrigue with his sister's dating life cameron gave him a curious side eye; "yeah, but i'm the only one in our family who knows; why?" kevin stuttered through an excuse, something that was extremely unusual for him.
"n-nothing i just didn't know she was dating someone..." cameron shook his head, a knowing smirk spreading across his freckled face; "kev imma tell you now, don't fuck with my sister; she's REALLY into this dave guy and i don't want you fucking with her mind, tamara's a baby she doesn't have any experience in the real world." even though cameron cared little about who his siblings dated that didn't mean he didn't care about their well being and he knew kevin wasn't good for tamara, at least not in that time of his life.
"man i ain't ever say shit about dating yo' sister and if you care so much than why you letting her run around dating these random niggas!?" kevin's voice was laced with jealousy as he went into denial.
"i don't let her do shit, she's 19 and i ain't got no say in her life; but even if i did i don't wanna run her, what i do wanna do though is protect her from getting her goddamn heartbroken and we both know that's all that would happen if y'all did get together!" cameron hissed, knowing from personal experience what it was like to be a young superstar in the nba which afforded an existence filled with women and partying; a lifestyle he simply didn't want his little sister included in.
"you don't know how i'd treat tamara cam." kevin hissed in the heat of the moment, openly admitting his feelings for the songstress; immediately bringing out cameron's protective nature.
"kevin i'm being so deadass right now, when tamara comes here don't go nowhere near her bruh; i swear to you i mean that shit." he laughed through the threat, without a hint of playfulness in his delivery.
"nigga yo' halfbreed ass ain't gone do shit to me, if i wanna talk to her i fucking will." he reached out, shoving cameron nearly making him fall; reigniting the initial heat between the guys.
"man you better get the fuck outta my house before i stomp yo' lanky ass out." cameron walked back up to the older man, venom present in his dark brown eyes.
on any other day kevin would've happily fought someone who had talked down to him like that, but with the knowledge tamara would be arriving in any minute he held himself back.
"nigga fuck you." he spat with a angry scowl across his face, cameron returned the sentiment; "fuck you too." with that he pushed him back before ascending onto his court to continue where they'd previously left off.
kevin mumbled expletives to himself as he trudged through cameron's california mansion, his ego reeling as he wasn't the type of man to EVER take the high road; but if it meant cameron couldn't tell tamara they'd actually tussled then he could live.
and like a present for taking such a noble stance, in his opinion god's greatest angel was preparing to knock on the door just as he'd thrown it open.
the hardened expression on his face fell when he saw the beauty staring up at him kindly, "hello kevin, do you know where my brother might be?" she spoke elegantly, the softness in her breathy voice sending shockwaves through his figure.
"uh yeah, he's uh back there." he motioned to the backyard, his focus squarely on her wide chocolatey brown eyes.
"thank you." she flashed him her megawatt smile before going off to greet cameron, her green suitcase in tow; it brought a smile to his face knowing his team colors happened to be her favorite.
