We rested about 50 feet away from the main cave, it was already night, we couldn't afford to be discovered, so the place where we set up camp was not the best to rest, even so, it absolutely fulfilled its duty, keeping us hidden. We were very tired, really exhausted and others had more than one memory in the form of a scar, resulting from the combat, someone in the group proposed, to take guards, it was decided, each one took a turn, I was the first to go to sleep, the night was long and it's not like my day had been good either.
The first guard was taken by Kaladin, to be honest, I slept so comfortably that night, that I didn't find out who was the person who continued on duty.It was around 3 in the morning, when I heard a strange noise, in the distance I saw Vitros walking away, I didn't understand the situation well, but I had two options, he found something or he was going to betray us to the Goblins, I decided to follow him closely, but with enough distance so that he wouldn't get alarmed.
In the background you can hear a noise in the water, said noise, seemed to be what Vitros was chasing, but how important was that sound to leave your companions abandoned while they slept a few meters from a cave in enemy territory? It sounds like they are constantly throwing stones into the small river, as we get closer, the noise was "clearer", it was as if someone was jumping in the water, like a drowning man doing the strokes.I approached a tree to check how Vitros reacted to the situation. I was surprised to see that the little Slime that Vitros had condemned was in the water, struggling against the current. My heart was breaking. Slimes don't talk, but on that occasion, I felt him say:
-I want to go home- With a sad tone, like when a child gets lost in the market.
Vitros took him and using his own physique, managed to get them both out intact.
-Oh, he'll want to adopt him again- I whispered.
At that point I saw how a giant purple mass approached Vitros, it was the Slime's mother.
''He will die if I don't help him, they will kill him, although my help would only cause two deaths'', I thought.
My body trembled, although I wanted to, I couldn't move to help him, I just watched a Vitros who didn't tremble, as if he had been in similar situations many times during his life, it's sad, but Vitros didn't look sad either. When the Slime approached my friend, Vitros returned his little one to him, leading him with a few small pushes:
-Go, go, it's mom, follow her- He whispered with much affection. It didn't take saying it twice, the Slime fleetingly followed its mother's path, I knew how much Vitros wanted to have a pet, from the wolf to the Slime, but seeing him there, leaving him free, made me know that, Vitros wanted a pet, but he didn't want it at any price, I returned stealthily, there was nothing left to observe, I went back to sleep, but from that day on, I began to love Vitros as part of mine, as part of my blood.
I want to believe that it was because she was cute, kind and very small, I still don't really understand why, but I was the person who did the last watch, to tell the truth, my watch started at 6 in the morning, normal time to wake up.I prepared the rations I had, to feed my companions, I wasn't the best at cooking, but I cared about them.
By approximately 8 in the morning, the group had already prepared and eaten, we were ready to enter the cave and so it was. They discussed a lot about how we should enter, I don't know if it was Theren, Jaime, Nuxtar or Kaladin, who said that we should come up with a plan, in case of ambushes, in case of enemies, in case of traps, in case...-In case you don't remember, Guldren and Sildar's lives are at stake- I exclaimed with some anger.
