——HEATH WELLS GETS CAUGHT ON TAPE"LILY?"
the daughter of hecate awoke to the sensation of odessa softly shaking her left arm. she groggily opened her eyes to see that the young girl had a worried expression on her face, the straps of her worn backpack resting comfortably on her shoulders.
they were inside of the hermes cabin. though her vision was slightly skewed, she could see the night sky that seeped through the curtains draped over the windows, softly illuminating the inside. based on the sky, with the moon fully out, lilith guessed it was twelve—almost one—o' clock in the morning. it wasn't unusual for the daughter of hecate to have problems sleeping (one of the many problems that came with having hecate as your mother), but that night she had been able to sleep comfortably.
but for some reason, odessa had woken her up—and that almost never happened.
"sweets," lilith groaned softly, "what's wrong?"
"heath told me to wake you," odessa responded, still keeping her grip on lilith's arm, "he said that we're leaving soon."
"what?" lilith blurted out.
suddenly, her eyesight seemed to come back. the light from outside really helped brightened up the place. after a second look around, she saw a bunch of people up from their beds and getting ready. it wasn't the entire cabin, only the group of kids that heath was talking to only hours prior. the rest of the hermes cabin was asleep.
lilith propped herself up on her elbow and looked at the familiar bed filled with comfortable blankets and pillows not far away, it was dante's. she stared at her best friend, who was sitting down putting on his shoes.
he met her gaze and locked his eyes onto hers. his expression was as equally confused as he nodded to her.
"you should get dressed quickly," odessa said, "heath said to tell you to bring only your weapons and your spellbook. he told me he has stuff ready for you already."
before the girl could walk away, lilith grabbed her arm, "did he say why?"
odessa shook her head. then, she turned around and walked away.
lilith didn't waste any time getting ready. she discreetly changed out of her pajamas and into a pair of jean shorts with a black shirt, and a dark purple sweater tied around her waist next to her dagger. as she put on her usual converses, she grabbed her spellbook that she kept under her bed (the backup one, not the one burned in the bus fire last summer).
she didn't really need it in action, but it was great for making up and learning new spells. it was homemade, and some of the spells in there had been made directly by her mother (though, their power had been lowered significantly—which didn't mean they were powerful, the spells themselves were incredibly hard to learn—to accommodate for a teenage demigod to perform them).
it was very special to her.
once she was done, she walked silently over to dante, who was stuffing a small bag with numerous items (most notably, his sketchbook and a large ziplock bag filled with melatonin gummies. lilith noticed he put his camera into the front pocket of his hoodie instead of with the rest of the stuff, she wondered why). he, too, has changed out of his pajamas and into regular clothing (dark jeans and an oversized blue hoodie).
"do you know what this is about?" lilith whispered into dante's ear, carefully as to not wake up any sleeping campers.
dante whispered back, "no idea...heath hasn't really said anything, either."
