The pressure was unbearable. Over the next few days, Vineet did his best to act normal, but Abhijeet noticed the strain. His sharp eyes caught every flicker of doubt in Vineet’s expression, every moment where he seemed distracted.

One night, after the rest of the team had left, Abhijeet cornered Vineet in the office, his face set with determination.

“Enough is enough, Vineet,” Abhijeet said, his voice firm but not unkind. “I know something’s going on. You’ve been off for days. I need you to tell me what’s happening.”

Vineet swallowed hard, feeling the weight of the secret pressing down on him. He couldn’t keep lying. Not to Abhijeet. Not anymore.

“Abhijeet, there’s something you need to know,” Vineet said, his voice barely above a whisper. “It’s about DCP Chitrole.”

Abhijeet’s eyes narrowed, but he didn’t interrupt. He waited for Vineet to continue.

“When I was transferred to CID, DCP Chitrole made it clear that I owed him for the position. At first, I thought it was just a way to get me in, but now he’s calling in favors. He wants me to sabotage this investigation.”

Abhijeet’s expression hardened, anger flashing in his eyes. “What?”

“He’s threatened me Sir,” Vineet continued, his voice cracking with the weight of his confession. “If I don’t do what he asks, he’ll ruin my career, expose our relationship—everything.”

Abhijeet was silent for a moment, his jaw clenched as he processed what Vineet had just revealed. Finally, he spoke, his voice low and dangerous. “You should have told me sooner.”

“I know,” Vineet said, his eyes pleading. “But I didn’t want to drag you into this. I thought I could handle it, but now… I don’t know what to do.”

Abhijeet took a deep breath, his anger slowly giving way to resolve. “We’ll figure it out. Together.”

“But if DCP Chitrole—”

“I don’t care about Chitrole,” Abhijeet interrupted, his voice fierce. “What I care about is you, and this team. We’ll find a way to deal with him, but we’re not going to let him destroy everything we’ve built.”

Vineet felt a wave of relief wash over him, the weight of his secret finally lifted. But as he looked into Abhijeet’s eyes, he knew that the battle was far from over. They still had Chitrole to deal with, and the killer to catch.

And now, with everything on the line, they would have to face both challenges head-on—together.
