"Flames that's all I could see ,a sea of blazing orange and yellow that's all I can see, all I can feel. It's as if the inferno has consumed me whole. I'm trapped, suffocating in the intense heat. And yet, I'm shielding someone, holding them close as the blaze rages on. But who? The white shirt, once pristine, now stained with crimson colour- whose blood is this? Mine or his? The pain in my chest is a vice, crushing me, and I know I'm burning, my flesh charred and blackened. The fire engulfs me, a living entity devouring me whole. I'm screaming, but my voice is silenced by the roar of the flames. And then, nothing.Pitch darkness."

Lux's eyes snapped open, her lungs burning as if she'd been running from the inferno that still raged in her mind. She sat up with a jolt, her sweat-drenched body trembling like a leaf. The vivid nightmare still lingered, the acrid smell of smoke and blood clinging to her like a shroud. She could taste the fear, her heart racing like a jackrabbit.

Lux's scream still lingered in the air as she stumbled to her feet, her eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings. She was in school, Mr. Moody's class, and the stern teacher was glaring at her, his face red with annoyance.

"What in the world happened, Lux Leona Ram?!" he thundered, his voice making her look around. "Why the screaming, and why are you disrupting my class?! Get out! No attendance for you today!"

As Lux composed herself and moved towards the door, her eyes blurred with unshed tears, the nightmare still seared into her mind like a branding iron. What secrets was her subconscious trying to uncover? And who was the mysterious person she'd tried to save from the flames?. She has had the same dream since childhood after the drowning accident at the age of eleven .But she never shed tears she just smiled and came back to her cheerful attitude.

"Hey I will be in the library pick me later on lunch".she whispered to her friends on the way .

She jumped and walked away with small smile like she wasn't the one who screamed now.

Lux made her way to the library , her heaven in the college . She headed straight for her favorite spot - a cozy bay window hidden behind shelves, where rose flowers spread over the entire wall, creating a secluded nook outside the window like a meadow .Franklin, the librarian, greeted her warmly.
"Hey, Lux, what got you kicked out? Was it Moody again?"Since the day she came to college. . Franklin the librarian knows her well , no that won't be the correct statement everyone in the college knows her .

Lux replied, "Yup. I'll be at my usual place. If my friends come, tell them to fetch me."

Franklin nodded, familiar with Lux's habits and watched as Lux settled into her routine, her reputation preceding her wherever she went. In college, she was a legend—not  for her appearance but only because of her formidable fighting skills, which had become the stuff of campus lore. During her first semester, Lux had intervened when she saw seniors bullying two girls. Her friend Harry, who had tried to step in alongside her, had ended up on the receiving end of a brutal thrashing. Lux, a former national kickboxing champion, had effortlessly subdued the bullies, despite having retired from the sport. This act of bravery not only earned her the gratitude of the two girls, Athira and Angelina, but also cemented her place as the linchpin of a tight-knit group of friends.

The aftermath of that day had transformed Lux’s college experience. Athira, a quintessential Indian Malayali girl, and Angelina, the college queen, became her closest confidantes, with Athira eventually pairing up with Harry and Angelina with Ashiq. The five of them formed an inseparable gang, with Lux often the lone single amidst their romantic escapades and petty squabbles. Despite her knack for trouble and average academic performance, Lux's presence was a constant source of joy. She found solace in reading fantasy novels, even as she grappled with her own uncertainties about being the lone wolf in their circle.
