FIVE DAYS LATER

"Hey, I think I should cut the call,” Lux said, her voice firm. “You guys handle your couple’s quarrel; I’m not interested in this right now.”

Lux hung up the phone with a sense of camaraderie and curiosity about the new figures making waves at her old college. As she returned to her role with the juniors, she found herself wondering about the mysterious Mr. Sylvester .

THE NEXT DAY

Lux hurried.Something inside her made her the feeling of urgency  compelling her to get to college as quickly as possible. The familiar sound of her phone buzzing in her pocket pulled her back to the moment.

“Hey, Lux! Where are you?” Harry’s voice crackled through the speaker, laced with urgency. “The gate has closed. Even though we’re free today, you need to get inside. Come on!”

“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes,” Lux replied, “I’ll come through the back of our lab. Just meet me there.”

She ran, her feet pounding against the pavement, but this was nothing new for her. She thrived in the rush with her phone .

“Or should I call Mr. Sharon, the prince, to rescue our princess?” Harry teased, laughter evident in his tone.

“Wait fifteen minutes, and I’ll show you how this queen can kick someone’s ass. Don’t cry then,” Lux shot back, a smile tugging at her lips despite her hurry.

Harry and Athira settled beneath a sprawling tree, the leaves whispering above them. It was the back of the campus where no one came usually since it is a small area . Athira sat quietly, her fingers fidgeting—a telltale sign that she was lost in thought.

“Are you okay?” Harry asked, noticing her absent gaze.

Athira nodded but didn’t speak. Her mind was a whirlwind of concerns, worries bubbling just beneath the surface.

The sun cast a warm glow across the campus, Athira turned to Harry with a frown. “Hey, it’s our second last week. What will we do after this? Will we all still be together like now?”

Her voice carried a hint of anxiety. “Even if all four of us are together, I don’t think Lux will be with us. I’m pretty sure she’ll move to some remote area, staying there peacefully. But I don’t want our gang to be separated. More than that, I don’t want Lux to be alone.”

Harry listened intently as Athira continued. “She’s all alone now. I have you and my family, and Angie has Ashiq and her family. What about Lux? No boyfriend, no family… I don’t think she has anyone she can talk to freely. I’m worried about her more than anything.”

“I know you’re worried about her,” Harry replied, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “We could talk to her about it. Maybe she just needs some support.”

“Okay,” Athira said softly, still troubled.

“Come here.” Harry opened his arms, pulling her into a tight hug. He patted her back soothingly, hoping to ease her worries.

But then, wanting to lighten the mood, he playfully bit her ear.

“You dog! Why are you biting me?” Athira exclaimed, laughing as she playfully slapped his arm. She looked into his eyes, her expression shifting from concern to amusement.

Harry grinned, happy to see her smile return, even if just for a moment. They both knew the challenges ahead, but in this moment, they had each other.

As Athira’s laughter faded, a comfortable silence enveloped them. Harry’s gaze lingered on her face, the way the sunlight danced in her eyes, illuminating her features. There was something unspoken hanging in the air, a tension that made his heart race.
