The S.S. Tipton, the Pacific Ocean
Alex Russo paced around her room, trashing it and yelling at the top of her lungs. WHY WAS LIFE SO UNFAIR? she thought. In the nearly 1 year since Zack Martin had boarded this floating tub, Alex fumed, she had tried so desperately to be happy: she'd fallen in love with Dean dated him, poured her nervous energy into art and continued her magical misadventures with her family. And yet, she found herself missing Zack desperately, more so after her breakup with Dean, pining and longing just to see Zack once again. When she finally did get a chance to interact with him, it had backfired spectacularly for all to see. It made her want to blow this ship to hell.
When Alex first interacted with him in-person after almost a year, his punchlines and jokes had made her both laugh and cry internally at the same time. She had run to his room to take refuge because she remembered just how safe she felt when she was with him. Framing him for the hot tub blue dye prank had not been her intention. She had been publicly exposed for this and had been grounded, but not before she had got Zack grounded as well.
Now, Alex was throwing a massive temper tantrum and trashing her room. She couldn't believe that fate had thrown another big disaster at her like this. "WAS I PUT ON THIS EARTH TO SUFFER AND BE BLAMED FOR ALL ITS PROBLEMS?" she screamed passionately at no one in particular, before breaking down into tears. She couldn't tell if these were angry tears or just sad tears.
After she had calmed down, Alex decided that she wasn't going to let Mr. Moseby confine her to her room, no matter what ghastly punishment he came up with for her. She waved her wand, and the room was restored to its original. condition. Alex then magically transported herself to Zack's room, where she caught Zack trying to break open the porthole and escape the cabin.
"Going somewhere, Zacky?" Alex smirked smugly. Zack glared back, his expression scaring her.
"Alex." Zack spoke, his tone conveying pure unadulterated anger. "What are you doing here?"
"Just checking up on you." Alex spoke nervously. "I wanted to see how you were doing."
"After you got me grounded?" Zack retorted. "How considerate of you." he said sarcastically.
"It's not my fault that you're clumsy at hiding things." Alex shot at him. "I'm grounded too."
"I should get some credit seeing how I hid how I felt about you for 5 years!" Zack snapped at her.
Alex was stunned into silence for a brief moment. "Drop dead." she said and walked to the door.
Alex tried opening the door, but it did not open. "Why won't this door open?" she yelled at Zack.
"Because it's locked from the outside." Zack spoked calmly. Alex fell into shocked silence again.
Alex said. "They locked my room too. I should've tried escaping through the porthole."
Zack said, "The porthole's locked too. The only thing keeping me from suffocating are the little holes in the porthole that Cody, Max and Harper made to let in fresh air. I'm sure they did the same for you as well, both having the porthole locked and the little holes in it for fresh air."
Zack cast a look at Alex that was exasperated, admiring and despondent. "It seems we both really angered Justin and Mr. Moseby this time. All we can do is except our punishment." he said.
This version of Zack scared Alex. She had seen melancholic Zack, a guilty Zack and an ashamed Zack but those 3 versions of him actually had good impacts. This defeated, shattered, broken and despondent version of him was giving off bad vibes. She needed to snap him out of it now.
