Chapter 7

Grian pov:

It's been a month since the start of this summer, scar is like my best friend and it feels so nice to have a best friend. I never realized that there was a hole in my heart where he was meant to be but now I feel like I wouldn't function without him. Scar is the most wonderful person ever.

I sat in the big tree in the middle of our meadow, waiting for scar to appear. I always got to the meeting spot first because he had to wait for his friend's to fall asleep, my cabin wouldn't even notice I'd left.

I heard the sound of the best vex in the world walking on quiet feet to the tree then being to climb up to my branch.

"Hey scar!" I called to my friend as he sat down.

"H-hey grian!" He responded, something seemingly on his mind.

"What's up? Something wrong?" I asked as I leaned on his side, resting my head on his shoulder where it was always meant to be.

"No! No, just- well, after next week camp's gonna be over for the year. I won't really get to see you until next year." He said sadly.

"We go to the same school scar? And we can call, I gave you my number," I said as I took his hand in mine and squeezed it reassuringly. "So clearly that's a lie, what's actually on your mind?" I asked.

There was a silence then for a moment as he thought.

"Grian, I- everyone tells me that you're useing me. Joel, and Lizzie, and the others say that you're evil. But you're the most perfect, wonderful, handsome boy I know. I think you're trust worthy, but I don't think they have bad intentions ether. I'm just confused grian. It hurts my brain." Scar said quietly, the hurt in his voice feeling like icicles stabbing my heart.

"One group doesn't have to be wrong scar, I don't like your friends but that's because I don't know them. Well, and because they didn't take the time to know me. I don't want to hurt you, I lov- your my best friend scar." I said smiling at him and wrapping a wing tight around his shoulder.

There was another silence then scar began, "I think I should introduce you to my friends. I think if they see us hang out and get to know you, they will see how cool you are."

"I trust you scar, whatever you think the right thing is." I said in agreement.

"I trust you too."

Last dumb party of the summer, and I'm bringing my boyfr- best friend. We're best friends. Nothing more. Oh how I wish we were more.

Cabin 5 was hosting it this time around, Ren went all out as it was also celebrating a strange amount of our friends dating each other this year. Tango and Jimmy had apparently been secretly together since the kayaking activity, Joel and Lizzie have been together for two years now, Pearl had asked gem out a week ago now, and Martin and Ren got together just a few days ago.

I sat in my bunk and patiently waited for grian to arrive, we were gonna walk there together. Joel and Jimmy had already left, but tango was still trying his best to brush his hair which didn't work very well as he would get frustrated if he reached a snarl and the plastic brush would start to melt.

"Need help?" I asked him with a laugh as he hissed. Well, it was half hiss half crackle as his hair got more firey.

"No, I'm fine. You should go ahead, I don't want to make you late." He said between gritted teeth.

"I'm waiting for someone, we wanted to walk there together." I said smiling softly.

"OooooOOoooOooo scar is in loveeee!! Who's the lucky girl?" Tango said mockingly.

"It's not like that tango, he's just a friend." A friend I would totally kiss if he wanted to "and he doesn't like me like that either."

"That's what they always say. a 'he' you say? I didn't know you liked guys." He said.

Before I could answer I heard a knock at the cabin door.

"Hey grian! Come on in!" I called to the avian. Tango made the surprised pikachu face as he turned to see grian when he walked in.

Sorry about not updating the book for a month, school started and stuff happened :<
I can feel some motivation coming back so the next chapter won't take so long :)
