The Maze – Day 002

Newt Point of view:

I wake up with the sun and a terrible headache. What am I doing in bed? What happened last night? Marie! Where is Marie?

I hurry to turn around and find her peacefully asleep in her hammock located right next to mine.

Now I remember, Marie took me to my hammock and laid me down because I was drunk. Oh my gosh... I pass my hand in my face and in my hair to bring them back.

Minho was still in bed, and Alby wasn't in his. Where was he?

I get up, put on my shoes and head to the kitchen.

- Good morning Newt! Hello Frypan. Slept well?

- It's okay, I just have a headache.

- Drink it! He hands me a glass with a strange color located between green and purple and with thick texture and equally questionable. It will solve your problem in no time.

I take the glass and wood in one go.

- Yay! I jain. It tastes like a toilet.

- I said it was effective, not that it tasted good. He laughs.

- Have you seen Alby?

- He's in the Pit.

- What? I cried out. What happened?

- He was so drunk that he started dancing naked. We had to lock him up. Besides, if you find a slip, it's his. Frypan laughed more beautiful. Oh, and Clint is in the cell next door for the same reason, but he, we found his underwear.

- Don't tell me Marie saw this.

- You're kidding, she brought you all back to bed one by one, you first.

I was ashamed of myself. I promised to stay with her and forgot to count my drinks and ended up completely drunk. What an idiot!

- I'll get Minho. I said.

- You'll be careful with the vomit. Laugh Frypan.

I go back to the Farm, to find a sleeping Minho, a boiler full of vomit between my arms as if it were his stuffed animal, snoring like a pig.

- He is not awakenable. Says a soft voice.

- Marie! I exclaimed, happy to see her awake at last.

- He kept crying and vomiting last night. I took care of him all night, poor thing. She said.

Still dressed in her pastel blue pajamas, she walks towards Minho and places her hand on his forehead and moves it at certain points on his face.

- He's not feverish, but he's not strong either. He'll need a lot of rest. She takes the full vomit boiler and replaces it with an empty one. I'm going to go see how Gally is doing. I'll be back.

Then she left.

I crouch next to Minho and shake him.

- Minho... I call him. Minho... Minho!

He growls in his sleep, tightens his grip on the boiler and turns into his bed.

I shake him even more.

- MINHO! I scream in his ear.

- Mein? What? Where am I? Newt?

- Wake up, you Slinthead!
