06 | Summer Camp

We did some CT scans just to be sure of Kai's injury and it came back with the results being a minor concussion. However, a concussion shouldn't be taken lightly even if it is major or minor. They administered him on an IV drip and prescribed him some medicine to take and after that, we left the hospital and I dropped him off at his place before going back to mine. I had to pack for summer camp training, we were going to stay at the campus dorm in pairs, so I had to take some clothes.

It was Monday and I was up, ready to leave when my phone rang. I checked the caller ID and it was Kai. I swiped to answer and put the phone at my ears, "Hey, what up?" His deep voice traveled through the speaker as he spoke, "Hey, so I was wondering if you could pick me up and we could go to campus together because my car is not starting for some reason" he said sounding annoyed. I nodded although he couldn't see and agreed, "Call the auto place and have them tow to fix it up. " I suggested. "Yes, I already did that." "Well I am leaving out now, so I'll be there in 10 minutes top. "I say as I look at the lock that was on my room's wall." 

"Okay just call me when you are here."

"Okay."

I don't know what happened these past few days but me and Kai are pretty amicable, quite a rare occasion if you say so. I'm not complaining, I like quiet better. I sighed and grabbed my keys along with my bags before exiting my apartment and driving off to pick up our dear Kai. By the time I reached, the sun was up and shining and it was like 8 in the morning, We had to reach by 9 am. I parked my car, turned off its ignition, and dialed Kai's number. He picked up after a few seconds, "you are here?" 

"Yeah." 

"Okay I am on my way"

A few minutes into waiting, I see a figure descending the stairs with bags in tow. He was dressed in his casual fit, a sports jacket, and sweats as usual. I got out of the car to meet him, "Morning." I say as I walk up to him and take the handle of his suitcase. He looks up and looks into my eyes before flashing a smile and greeting me back. I tried to move the suitcase but I soon realized his hand was also on it. I look at him puzzled. "Let a man do it." My brain took a moment to process what he just said and then I looked at him in shock, "You did not just say it. " He was walking in front of me juggling a duffle bag and the suitcase in both hands. 

"I did."

"You do know, we do the same sport right, and we work out the same. "

"Doesn't mean anything."

I scoffed and followed after him, he was putting the luggage in the back and I was waiting in the driver seat for him. The passenger door opened and he got in, getting all relaxed and comfortable. "Don't play any Taylor Swift. " He says. I haven't even started the car yet and the man is already acting like he owns it, "Whatever, my car, my song." I started the car and started driving.

Somewhere along the way we both started jamming to Taylor Swift's Cruel Summer.

By the time we reached, it was 5 minutes past 9. Not too late. I parked and looked ahead and saw that the majority of the guys were there already. That's good. Some of Kai's teammate's eyes turned to my car and I could see them whispering to each other. "Let's go. " I say as I open the door getting out, Kai doing the same. Seeing the two captains of both the Girls and Boys volleyball team getting out of the same car, they guys being the boys they are starting getting hyped and I just rolled my eyes, ignoring them as I took out my stuff. Kai chuckled from across me and waved a Hi to his teammates.  

We all gathered in the center of the campus field, everyone talking to their respective friends. "So Cap, we saw you came from Ms. Lowe's car. wanna tell us something? " Jeremy and his weirdness starts and I look at Kai, waiting to see what he would say. He also looks at me and smirks. I was ready to cover his mouth if I had to and It seemed he sensed it cause he started taunting.

"We-"

"Don't finish that sentence." I threatened as I glared at him. he just smiled, "Anyways before I was interrupted..I was saying we came together because my car broke down." Jeremy, expecting something more, sighed and looked disappointed. Everyone who stayed around also sighed and turned to what they were doing, now I was just staring at Kai super hard. "Stop glaring, laser might come out of them. chill, I wasn't gonna say anything."

"Make sure," I say finally before turning to my teammates and walking off.
