As Ruby stormed up to the big. sense dinner just ended Chiron should be there.

but instead she found Mr. D drinking diet coke on the porch. she marched up to him and crossed her arms. he looked up at her and frowned.

"looks like you found out," he said casually.

"where's Chiron?" she asked.

"so i'm guessing that girl whatever her name is can't keep a secret can she,"

"Where's Chiron?" she asked again more forcefully.

"i think her name started with an S was it Sarah maybe Sally?" Mr. D went on.

"Stop ignoring my question!" she exclaimed, "Where's Chiron?"

Mr. D looked at her with a slight frown, then took another sip of his diet coke. he was about to say something then Chiron interrupted,

"Hello Ruby," he said as Ruby quickly turned to him angrily,

"who is he?" she asked,

"who is who?" Chiron asked, obviously trying to avoid the question.

"my dad,"

"oh,"

"well who is my dad Chiron?"

"he is......"

"mm?"

"Hades,"

"huh, you're kidding right?" Ruby looked at their faces for one of the to crack a smile or laugh a little but their faces stayed the same stern and pitiful.

"no it must be like a less powerful god right like maybe Ares or Hephaestus," she said trying to reason with herself. Chiron looked at her pitifully as she fought with herself about her father being Hades.

"you're father is Hades, he claimed you multiple times when you arrived at camp but they were small and you didn't even noticed them," Ruby studied his kind eyes for anything that could make her feel better but found nothing.

she turned abruptly and quickly hurried towards the woods. She found a rock a couple feet from the creek and looked towards the ground and closed her eyes as she tried to pull her headphones over her head but then remembered she had left them in cabin eleven.

she sighed as she kicked a rock near her foot.

"ow!" Ruby heads snapped up to look around but she ended up hurting her neck sense she turned her head up to fast. she rubbed the back of her neck as she looked around trying to find who said 'ow!'.

"who's there?" she asked skeptically. 

"the treesssss," they said trying to sound mysterious. Ruby rolled her eyes as she got up and waked towards the sound of the voice.

"if you don't come out i'll tackle you and choke you," she threatened, not that she knew how but she was hoping they couldn't see through her lie.

"the trees are the witnessed to the murder,"

"what is with the trees are you the Lorax or something?"

"Maybe i am,"

"if i pull you out from behind the bush and you aren't a midget fluffy thingy thats orange i'm going to be disappointed,"

"hey i think i'm pretty average height, if anything i'm not a midget i'm probably taller than you," they said sounding offended. then Ruby kicked the bush,

"Ow! why'd you do that,"

"because i'm better sure i'm taller than a bush," they gasped then a boy about her age with messy black hair and electric blue eyes wearing jean shorts and an orange camp half-blood shirt with a blue jacket popped out of the bush looking offended. Ruby studied him for a minute than frowned.

"i thought you'd be a satyr or something," Ruby said shrugging.

"why?"

"maybe because the tree thing,"

"guess that makes a little sense,"

"so how long you been here?"

"i got here a day ago you?"

"a week,"

"mm, whats your name,"

"Ruby,"

"Mines Max nice to meet you Ruby,"

"why are you out here in the dark in the woods," Ruby asked,

"some little kid i think he was about ten was going to give me five bucks if i followed you into the forest,"

"was his name Nico?"

"yeah i think so why,"

"no reason," then she was about to turn around when she had to know why he did it for only five dollars, "why'd you do it for only five dollars?"

"i'm thirteen and broke I'll take what I can get," he said shrugging, putting his hands into his pockets.

"huh? well I need to go get made at two people so see you around Max," Ruby said as she turned around and walked towards cabin three sense it was closer. but then she realized it was way past curfew and if she got caught she would be in big trouble.

she carefully made her way back to cabin eleven and slipped inside and tip toed to her sleeping bag on the floor.

she moved her headphones off of her pillow and unzipped it and got inside. she closed her eyes trying to fall asleep, but couldn't. she shifted in her sleeping bag, to stare at the ceiling.

her eyes shifted to a clock four hours till dawn, then she looked at Nico's sleeping bag. he wasn't there.

she thought he was going to the bathroom. but when he didn't come back in fifteen minutes she suspected he wasn't in the bathroom.

she sat up and looked around a bit before standing up quietly and slipping out the door. She saw Percy land behind Nico who was hiding behind a greek collum like he was hiding from something. Then Percy put something on his head and he disappeared.

After about fifteen minutes of watching Nico hide behind the collum. she saw Zoe and Bianca walked towards the Artemis cabin probably to get their bags.

Then Percy appeared out of thin air in front of Nico. Then they started talking.

Percy then half ran and half jogged towards the half-blood hill where the tree stood. Nico started walking back and Ruby went back inside to wait for Nico.

Ruby sat down and waited for Nico to come through the doors. When Nico walked through the doors he saw Ruby waiting for him. his shoulders dropped a little as he walked over to her.

"So Nico do you know a kid named Max by chance?" she asked,

"aren't you going to ask why i'm not asleep and was outside?"

"i'll get to that later,"

"ok,"

"so do you know a kid named Max,"

"Maybe,"

"you know electric blue eyes, black hair," he sighed in defeat as he admitted he did bribe him to follow Ruby, and he didn't know exactly why.

"thank you for admitting," he shrugged, "Now what were you and Percy talking about before you decided to come back into the cabin?"

"just how the hunters lost a hunter for the quest because of a prank Travis Stoll did, and how i told Percy to go and look after Bianca," He told her, she nodded.

"I understand, Now get some sleep its only four hours till breakfast," She scolded him. he nodded and lied down in his sleeping bag as Ruby did the same.
