You had met many people and seen many places in your long life as a wanderer. Traveling was something you loved, though, oftentimes, you wished you had a home to stay in between journeys.

Currently you on your way to Laketown, with a message from someone from Bree to some other dude in that town. You didn't particularly care to go into the Grey Mountains, nor all that way south to go around Mirkwood. So, that left the path through the forest. Considering how the forest was relatively safe these days, you weren't to scared.

One week later, you were almost through the forest, but your supplies were running out. You were getting worried, because it was another week from the edge of the edge of the forest to the town.

You stooped, hoping to eat some berries or nuts and save your provisions. The creak of a bowstring made you stiffen, but before you could move, a voice called out, "Who goes there?"

"No one important," You replied, not moving for fear of getting an arrow in your skull. "Just a poor traveler on her way to Laketown."

"Turn around," the voice commanded. You did so, carefully, slowly. You froze when you saw the elf before you. Piercing blue eyes that seemed to see straight through you. Silky blonde hair that framed his face majestically and flowed gracefully in the air.

Then your eyes trailed down to the arrow pointed at your head, and you froze up again.

"You are an Elf," he said in surprise.

You raised an eyebrow, "Yes, very astute, my lord."

He narrowed his eyes, and you realized insulting him probably wasn't a good idea considering the situation the you were in.

"What is your name, traveler?"

"Y/n L/n."

He lowered his bow, seeming to decide you weren't a threat. "Legolas," He said. "Legolas Greenleaf."

Your eyebrow shot up again. "Your name is Greenleaf Greenleaf? Your parents had an amazing sense of humor."

Legolas glared at you. "Yes, and you're definitely the first person to tell me that."

You blushed. "Sorry."

"Where are you headed, traveler?"

"Laketown."

Legolas looked pleased. "Really? I am headed that direction on my way to the palace. Perhaps we could travel together for a little while."

You smiled. "I'd like that."

You two walked together for the rest of the day. You were surprised at how easily conversation flowed between the two of you. You weren't that surprised, however, to discover just how much you enjoyed his company. That night, as you settled down, You got out what was left of your meager possessions, determined to share what little you had with this kind Elf.

"Is this all the supplies you have?" Legolas asked upon seeing them.

You blushed and shrugged. "I know it isn't much, but I'll survive."

"Not until Laketown!" He cried. "You must come to the palace with me, there is more than enough food there."

You couldn't turn down the offer, so you just nodded. After eating, you went to sleep while he stayed on watch.

You wound up staying a lot longer at the palace than you had planned. Legolas had turned out to be some sort of lord, but he wouldn't tell you his position. He had gotten you a nice room near the top of the palace, which granted a pleasant view. You were beginning to feel as though you were home.

You knew you had to complete this one last journey, but, when you did, you thought you'd come back here and stay.

A knock on your door startled you out of your thoughts. You opened it to see Legolas, the very Elf you had begun to develop a crush on since meeting him in the woods.

"It has just finished raining," he informed you. "Which means the gardens will be even lovelier than normal. Will you walk with me and to see them?"

You smiled and accepted. He was right. The gardens were practically bursting with color from the recent rainfall. The birds were more excited than usual, cheering the atmosphere with their songs. You could have done without the extra bees, though.

Legolas laughed as you swatted one away.

"What?" You asked. "I don't like them!"

"I have never met an Elf who was so opposed to insects."

"You try getting stung by one of Beorn's bees, then we'll talk," You muttered.

A gardener walked across your path, bowing to Legolas before moving on. You narrowed your eyes, suspicions popping up in your mind.

Legolas led you over to a bench, where the two of you sat, admiring the scenery. Finally, you decided to ask the nagging question.

"Your name isn't Legolas Greenleaf, is it? It's Legolas Thranduilion."

Silence. Then, softly, "yes."

You nodded, then went back to admiring the scenery. Inside, though, your mind was whirling. What were you going to do now? There was a part of you that had hoped he wasn't the prince. After all, you had developed a crush on the guy, only to find out he's royalty and it could never happen?

"You're not going to do anything about it?" Legolas asked.

"If you had wanted me to do something about it, you would have told me who you were, that first day in the forest. Or at the very least, when we got to the kingdom."

A smile spread over Legolas' features, making him even more handsome. He reached out and gently pushed a stubborn lock of hair behind your ear.

"Would I have a chance?" He asked.

"What?" You whispered, your breath seeming to catch in your throat.

"If I asked you to court me, would I have a chance?"

"Yes."

He leaned down, seeking to met his lips with yours, and you almost let him. But at the last second, you pulled away.

"I'm sorry, Legolas, I want this, I really do, but not now. I have a letter to deliver in Laketown, but if you kiss me, I'm never going to leave."

Legolas was disappointed, of course, but he understood. You left that day, taking a horse, so you could get to Laketown quicker.

You smiled as you entered the Woodland Realm. It had been almost a month since you had been here, despite your resolution to get the trip over with as quickly as possible. You longed for Legolas' embrace, and for his kiss, which he promised to give you upon your return.

He was waiting for you at the palace gates, somehow having heard of your arrival before you had even gotten there. You leapt from your horse into his waiting arms, where he promptly captured your lips in a kiss. It was hasty, passionate, and needy, but it was all you wanted at the moment. Finally you broke away, smiling up at him. A stablehand came and collected your horse, leaving you along with the prince. He took your hand in his, and led you back to the bench where you had first confessed.
