The afternoon sun beat down as Jungkook hailed a cab after their training ended at noon. The ride to the hotel was filled with comfortable silence.
Inside the room, a wave of surprise washed over Lisa.
The room, booked that morning, remained a secret to him. She yearned to talk to Jungkook about it, but the clock was not her friend. Errands were waiting, and every second counted.
With a lingering look, he managed only, "I'll pick you up at seven."
The hotel Wi-Fi chimed as soon as Lisa settled in, announcing a message from Jungkook.
Jeon: You didn't sleep last night, you may sleep now to recover your energy.
Lisa: I haven't finished speaking, can you not do this thing?
Lisa: I mean I can use my own money. I don't want to keep costing you money.
Jungkook only sent a reply, a smiley emoji.
Lisa: This is the society, where men and women are equal. If you do this, I'll have a burden.
Lisa: You're still studying and Park Jihoon told me just now that the billiard room is losing money, and you're filling it all in.
Jeon: Do you regret it?
Jeon: You found a poor student
Lisa: Who hasn't been a poor student before?
If not for her unique profession, Lisa wouldn't have secured bonuses so quickly.
After all, she wasn't your typical struggling student.
Jungkook didn't reply, he was likely in another area with poor reception.
Lisa couldn't blame him. Recalling the night before, the brief stretch of sleep she managed before the insistent alarm felt like an eternity compared to her usual routine.
Adding to her exhaustion was the morning training session with Jungkook.
One hour with him as a partner was like three with anyone else. The session left her pleasantly relaxed but undeniably sore.
Reaching for her iPad, she initially intended to play some calming music. But, instead, her finger hovered over the song "Obvious"
I've made it obvious
I've done everything but say it
(i've crushed on ya for so long, but on and on you get me wrong)
I'm not so good with words
Since you never noticed
The way that we belong
I'll say it in a love song.
The melody that swirled around them when Jungkook first held her outside the billiard room was a memory now forever tied to the song.
She reached into her backpack, pulling out a white cloth bag filled with a change of clothes.
Tossing the bag onto the bed, she headed for the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, a familiar chime echoed, the unmistakable sound of a WeChat notification.
Unlike the silence applied to everyone else's messages, Jungkook's had a special exemption. He was the only one who could bypass her "Do Not Disturb" setting.
Her bare feet slapped against the floor as she rushed out, phone clutched in her hand. A quick glance confirmed her suspicion of a message from Jungkook.
