Start of Something New

The Auditions

Newt woke up to his alarm. He groaned and rolled over, picking up his phone to turn off the alarm. He got out of bed, got dressed. His mom went into the room.

"Your sister is ready." She said,

"I'll be down in a sceond." Newt said. She went over to him.

"Are you excited?" Newt shrugged, turning to her.

"I mean, I'm starting a new school in a new country." Newt said. She kissed his forehead.

"I know it might be tough but I'm sure you'll make new friends. Plus, you are going to get more sunlight and way more beautiful sights." Newt nodded."Now, come down stairs and have breakfast. We are leaving in about 20 minutes."

"Still not letting dad drive?" His mom smiled.

"I don't trust him yet." Newt softly smiled. Newt went down stairs and ate breakfast. His younger sister was all ready.

"You ready?" She asked. Newt shrugged."It's going to be great."

"At least you don't have to start in the middle of high school." The two walked behind their mom to the car. She drove to the school.

"It looks just like the movie,"Sonya said.

"I'll pick you up at the same place around 3:15." Their mom said. Newt nodded and they got out of the car and started to walk to the school.

Two boys were walking onto campus, holding onto their skateboards.

"Junior year baby." Thomas said.

"Yay, more school. I heard that this is the hardest year." Minho said as they entered the school.

"We got this. Next year, we will be seniors. The top of the school."

"Yeah we will. Leaving school early, leaving school for lunch. I also heard it's the easiest year." They walked to their first class.

Sonya and Newt walked into the school.

"I need to find my locker. I'll see you around." Newt nodded and went to his locker. He saw a girl with short brown hair next to his and she banged it on, making it open.

"Sorry, it only opens when I bang on it." She said, Newt shook his head.

"No, it's totally ok." Newt said, opening up his locker. She looked at him.

"You're new?" Newt nodded."Love the accent."

"Thanks." She reached out her hand.

"I'm Brenda." Newt smiled and shook her hand.

"Newt."

"What class do you have?" Newt pulled up his phone and looked at his schedule.

"Math with Mr. Randall." Brenda smiled.

"Me too." The two started to walk to class.

Later, Newt and Brenda sat in the gym as the principal started to do his annual start of the year assembly. Sonya came over and sat next to them.

"You must be Sonya." Brenda said."I'm Brenda." Sonya smiled.

"Hi."

"This year, East High has a new drama teacher." The principal said.
