Never will he let her go once again in the blistering cold of the unforgiving winter.

Whenever she needs to rant, he will be there. No matter what she wants to get off of her mind so badly, he will always listen, peering into her [eye color] eyes with his hazel hues. Whenever she oddly needs help with homework, he will be there. And, Kuroo will no longer leave [Name] alone at a summer festival.

Kuroo, that tall, bright male, will never leave her.

Not again.

He vowed this a bit ago after she finally opened back to him, however... it seemed that [Name] never needed him as a shoulder to lean on. All the pent up rage he saw in her eyes prior to her ignoring him in the fall was suddenly gone. It was as if she was at peace with her life, understanding and knowing that things would happen. That is simply life, though. Some people learn to deal with it, and others may never cope.

"[Name]," Kuroo suddenly turned to her. The two of them were in a car together, Kuroo taking the wheel. It was a red light, and the darkness was illuminated by the crimson hue. A slight sparkle in both of their eyes. "Where... were you before you transferred to Nekoma?"

"Ah. Far away," she replied, shaking her head. "Small... town, y'know? I was supposed to stay there, but... we moved. Parents had to prioritize work."

"..." Kuroo seemed to have a solemn face.

"It's green," the car moved forwards, her tone of voice distant and unwilling to converse about her situation. A small part of her wanted to, so she gave into the urge to just tell Kuroo everything. "My parents... they weren't always this busy." Her eyes went off to the side, looking out her window. Lights and lights filled her vision, warm homes it was. Homes perhaps filled with loving people, and decorated nicely and brightly for the holidays. "I remember back then they would always be with me. I was happy."

"...?" A confused look was on his face. Since the two of them began talking again, a car had always been parked in front of her house. Kuroo knew, because he would always walk in front of her house, constantly worrying and aching for a simple sight of [Name].

"My parents are always... gone," she shrugged her shoulders, as if the statement did not hurt her inner child. Slightly glassy eyes and a soft sniffle, she took her sleeve and wiped her face. Another red light illuminated the car. "Christmas was my favorite growing up. The various things we would always do together as a family made me feel so happy. I believed I was the happiest girl in the world."

"... I-" The light turned green again, it was rather quick this time. He pursed his lips, his hazel eyes lowering as he kept an eye on the road.

"Then we moved," she sighed, a soft smile yet one so sad was evident on her face. Her life was left behind. The passion she held for the sport she had to let go of dwindled greatly. "All for money. I'm... pretty sure you caught on after I told you they could not afford the surgery I needed for me to continue being on the court. But, I don't blame them. I never will. They're simply trying to make sure we can live a stable life."

Kuroo nodded, "How do you do it?"

"What?"

"I mean, how do you manage not playing volleyball?" He asks, seeing how she felt after all these years of letting go of the thing she loved all too much.

[Name] laughed rather sadly, "You just... get used to your dream getting crushed."

It was silent after her words. The quiet radio playing Mr. Brightside continued in the background. The air was heavy, the sadness and longing easily felt from the girl beside him. Being swept away and taken to a new town, thrown into a school where nobody knew her, of course she would be a loner. It aches his mind that he never approached her sooner. Perhaps, then, she would not feel so lonely. Kuroo saw it all in her eyes, her hurt.

"How about we go stargazing?" He asked another question, avoiding the topic that seemed to bother her.

[Name] turned to him, starry eyes shining in the light, "Really?!"

The pair had stopped by at a convenience store to grab a couple small snacks. They decided that they would stare at the stars in the pitch black sky on top of Kuroo's roof. A strawberry milk was thrown into the basket, courtesy of [Name].

"Have you heard that the festival park we went to is closing down?" She suddenly asked, tilting her head. Kuroo shook his head, a somewhat shocked face on his expression.

"No..." What a shame. He was planning on taking her back there to make up for the first time he left her alone. "We can just... find another one, yeah?"

"..." [Name] was hesitant at first to answer, but slowly nodded her head. She pulled a strand of her [hair color] hair behind her right ear. "Yeah."

Making the payment for their items, the two walked out of the store and started walking to Kuroo's house. She saw that he still wore the gold chain bracelet he had bought for the both of them, and she too wore the silver bracelet. Her heart fluttered slightly, a cold feeling sinking within herself quietly. It was a freezing evening, wrapped warmly in their own scarves. A soft sigh, and one can easily see the heat from her mouth.

"It's cold..."

"[Name]... is this you?" The raven haired male stopped, staring at a poster.

It was a missing poster.

"I... uh..." she stumbled over her words, unsure of how to even explain herself at first. "I... ran away from home." A clear, plain excuse she used. The boy had doubts when she first said this. His hazel eyes looked into her [eye color] hues, fear evident within them.

"... Did you, now?" Kuroo questioned her, skeptical of her current behavior.

"I did, okay... things got difficult."

"... Okay, then." He frowned, shaking his head. "Where are you even staying?"

"I... um..." she shook her head, side to side. "I've just been roaming. The playground, sometimes."

"Is that why you were at the bus stop?"

"..." A nod came from her.

And suddenly, her heart felt warm once more when he threw his arms around her.

"Whenever you're struggling, you better come get me. You hear me?"

"... Mhm," a choked cry, her body trembling.

He did not get it.

He would never get it.

Though, it did not matter now, for she was at peace.
