"Are you going to the festival?" Kuroo asked her, tapping his pen on the desk lightly. He knew it greatly annoyed her when it was a loud tap.

[Name] shifted over to the side, shrugging her shoulders, "I never go anymore. No friends, remember?" The female was clearly tired, bringing her legs close to her chest and resting her head on her knees. "My family isn't all around me, either... if you haven't noticed."

Kuroo nodded slightly. That's right. He never once saw her mother or father. They were both busy and working, according to [Name]. She never touched too much on the topic, so he did not want to interfere on something most likely sensitive.

"I can take you, if you want."

"... Really?"

"Yeah," he said, stretching his arms, yawning. "It isn't a burden."

"..." [Name] looked down, a feeling she felt made her empty, but she could not quite place what exactly was making her that way. She glanced at Kuroo, who seemed to be extremely tired for whatever reason. "Did you have a game today?"

"No, I just got hit in the face with a volleyball. Wasn't paying attention while drinking water, and someone thought they should try out their skills to my head," the male explained briefly, shaking side to side. The volleyball captain then had a strange sparkle in his eye, scaring the female ever so slightly. "Hey, [Name], have you ever tried to play volleyball again?"

"No," she replied, tilting her head. "Doctor said not to."

"Well, that was years ago, right?"

"More like a couple..."

"Come on. You're itching to play, I know it," Kuroo stood up, hands on his hips. She followed suit, looking at the male to see what other nonsense he would spout out. "I got the keys this time around."

"... Who trusted you with those...?" [Name] muttered, knowing the male and his fake habits. However, she never knew that it was a ploy. An act, some may say. The male always lied to stay with her.

"Hey! I'm the captain, who wouldn't?!" Kuroo rolled his eyes, grabbing her hand gently. She felt the rough calluses, his rather large and slender fingers wrapping around hers. A heavy blush was on her, but she quickly dismissed the rapid pounding of her heart. Such thoughts were cast to the side.

When they arrived together at the gym, [Name] felt like her old self again. Shimmering eyes heading straight for the ball, ready to leave it airborne.

It was the day of the festival. The crowd was bustling, and it was a rather hot day out. Kuroo and [Name] were together, however she felt an unsettling pit in her stomach. The scheming male had told her that he was asked by another girl to attend the festival with, and he had agreed to go with her. Of course [Name] lied, saying that she was totally fine with him leaving her to go with this cute person. Kuroo, however, being as smart as he actually is, did not quite catch on to her impending sadness, which was on full display. The sun had begun to set, and the [eye colored] hued girl was handed a... stick?

"A morning glory," Kuroo smiled comfortingly. He was standing on her right again.

... Did he really have to say yes to that other girl? [Name] wanted to be with him all day.

"Here," he lit his own first, bringing it towards hers, grabbing her hand comfortingly. She blushed, her heart nearly dropping and picking up in pace. A spark ignited, filled with a bright flame of colors. It was similar to the feelings she held for the male, burning passionately in her heart, holding him dear to her. "It's pretty, right?" The dancing sparkles rippled down and down.

"... Yeah." Her glistening eyes reflected the mini firework. The shimmers were lively, changing as it went down the stick. [Name] looked up at Kuroo, a bright smile on her face. His gaze was filled with kindness. Suddenly, the spark vanished. The last orange spark dropping down to the floor, a moment of warmth and beauty ending.

"Kuroo!" A female's voice yelled. It belonged to a really pretty classmate of his, who wore a flower yukata.

"Gotta go. Enjoy yourself, [Surname]."

"... W-what...?" She stood there, disbelief spread across her face. What happened to the first name basis?

For some odd reason, she wanted to cry. Was he really her friend?

"Who was she, Kuroo?"

"Oh, don't worry about her." She did not notice until now, but he had taken off the golden bracelet he got for the both of them. "She isn't anyone important."

...

It was a stab in the heart. A painful echo.

This was not supposed to happen. She was never supposed to like him. [Name]'s first idea about him was right. Tetsurou Kuroo was a prick. Her face was a bright pink for the wrong reason, glassy [eye color]s trying to not burden the makeup she came in. Even with those feelings of hers, it was hard to justify it. Perhaps Kuroo simply wanted to only be friends, and she got too excited because she has not had a friend in high school. [Name] watched as their figures retreated, disappearing into the crowd. She longed to be that girl.

The girl he wants.

Her silver bracelet shimmered in the bright lights. A boom was heard, and it was time to watch the fireworks.

-

The ferris wheel was something she wanted to go on earlier with him, but he left. Therefore, she is on it by herself. It reaches the top as she is unable to stop thinking about the morning glories from earlier. Oh how she felt so special. He looked at her with such kind eyes. His gentle smile as he grabbed her hands. It continued to move, her gaze keen on the bursting fireworks in the night sky. The ferris wheel came to a sudden stop, however. She was confused, perhaps a malfunction?

To her left, her heart somehow ached even more. Morning glories, igniting. As well as their hearts, too. There she saw Kuroo and his pretty classmate holding the sparkling fire flower.

...

She choked, tears falling down her face as she sobbed her makeup away. She wanted to look pretty, for him, but he did not care. The grand finale of the fireworks commenced, vibrant colors decorating the sky.

Kuroo will never be hers.

She knew that right away when she saw him kiss the girl who was not her.

Why did she like him so much?
