When Izuku was four his life was pretty ok. He didn't have a dad as far as he knew but he didn't think that was terrible, after all he only needed his mother. But all good things come to an end.
"I'm sorry Miss Midoriya but your son is quirkless." That's when it all came crashing down.
"Are you sure doctor? I mean there isn't anything?" Inko asked as she used her own quirk to pull the figurine towards herself.
"I'm afraid so, with how weak your quirk and your husband's quirk is it makes sense even though only 20% of people are quirkless." Inko nodded her head and said her goodbyes leaving the doctors office with her son in tow.
"Mommy," Inko looked to her son quickly in the car to let him know she was listening "Do you think I can still be a hero?" Her eyes widened and she pulled the car into a lot and set it in park.
"Honey I-" She thought about it for a moment before answering "I think you can still be a hero," She saw her son perk up before speaking again "But, not like All Might," He almost started crying but she picked him up from his seat and hugged him "You're going to be better."

After their talk Inko decided that if she was going to support her son then he needed to take lessons on how to fight and defend himself. Especially from bullies now that everyone seemed to know.
"Izuku, do you want to start taking classes?" Inko asked as she made dinner while he set the table.
"Like what? Oh! Will it help me be a hero?!" He asked excitedly
"It would." He nodded his head vigorously and she smiled.
She wanted to start off with something that would be good for running away and hiding from people first, so at the age of four he started gymnastics and parkour. She was proud that her son didn't seem to mind that he wasn't getting into fighting right away though.
It was all going fine until he came home one day with a long nasty cut on his arm. She had asked him who did it but he didn't tell her and only looked down sadly at himself.
"Honey, did this happen while you were trying to practice?" She saw her son straighten up and begin to talk quickly.
"No! It was this other kid, I had been trying to run away like you said and was half way up a tree when they grabbed onto my arm with their quirk and it cut me! But the teacher said it was an accident so I didn't want to get the other in trouble." He explained whispering at the end. She smiled sadly at her son, he was being a hero even to people who didn't deserve it.
"It's ok honey, I'm gonna show you how to fix this up ok? After all, a hero needs to know first aid!" She declared carrying him to the bathroom, she was glad that she was a nurse, so it was a simple few stitches and clean up.

At the age of six Inko decided it was time for him to begin other activities, the bullying hadn't stopped and her son was already getting in trouble all of the time since they blamed him for it. So she decided it was time he learned to fight back.
"I think you should start some other classes, what do you think?" Inko asked as she helped bandage another wound.
"Really? Can I choose?! How many am I allowed to do?!" Inko smiled as he talked excitedly about all the things he could learn.
At the age of six he was in Gymnastics, Aikido, Hapkido, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and a parkour class.
She thought it was too much for him since he was so young, but he was so excited and had handled everything well enough that she decided that it was ok for him to take so many classes. Since he started not being at home so much Inko also decided to start taking more shifts, money wasn't the issue of course, they had enough to be fine for a while, she loved Izuku a lot but nursing was always her passion.
