I’ve been staring at this message since I got it.

I just came back to my penthouse from the gym which is located in the basement of the building. I’ve been going there a lot more than usual after Bree volunteered to help me ask out my crush.

The woman I like wants to teach me how to ask her out. She just doesn’t know it’s her.

I blink at the notification, thinking I’m hallucinating the text but it doesn’t disappear.

I open the text box and send a reply.

Finn
No, I do not.

Her reply comes after a second.

Rose
Denial. It happens.

Finn
Speaking from experience?

A smirk takes over my lips when I dont get an instant reply.

The best way to get on Rose’s nerves is either by insulting her fictional boyfriends- we don’t dare do that- or by bringing up her crush from highschool.

Rose
I forgot you’re his best friend. Just as irritating.

Finn
Sure. but we both have different reasons for being irritating, do we not?

Rose
Get lost.

And I win. Kind of. I think.

I shake my head and pocket my phone. I take the stairs to my room to take a shower.

I change into a simple t-shirt and sweats then return downstairs to make dinner.

Do you want my help?

Bree’s question keeps echoing in my head out of nowhere, forcing me to halt in my task before I regain myself and continue. Thankfully, I don't burn anything.

Bree thinks I have a crush on someone else that’s why she’s volunteering to help me. Which means she doesn’t like me. Not the way I want her to. She didn’t show a silver of hesitation.

When she mentioned one of her dates, I went feral in my head, thinking of every  possible way to scare them off.

Fun fact: most of the dates who canceled on her were because of me.

I did it as a favor for Ryan but also for the peace of my mind. Then she went ahead and dated Jay. About whom she didn’t tell anyone about except for Rose and Arzo. She figured out Jack was tattling to us. He still does.

After I told Bree to leave the topic, she went quiet. But the next day, she sent me a list of ways of I could make my ‘crush’ like me and ask her out.

She also added a note.

I don’t believe you when you say this girl doesn’t like you. I came to the conclusion that maybe you never talked to her or had the courage so I sent you this list. You’re welcome.

The urge to ask her if she’d date me if she was in my ‘crush’s position was high but I forced myself not to do it.

I just sent her a ‘thanks’.

Driest reply in my opinion.

I settle down in front of the tv with my food and put on a random channel. I’d usually go out to have lunch with either Farhan or Jack but today, I don’t want to. I want to stay in my penthouse and think of a way to stop Bree.

One day, you’re going to come home and tell me about the girl you like.

I stare into the distance as Sarah’s voice echoes in my head.

When she said that, I made a face and told her that I wouldn’t because I don’t like any girl except her. She laughed and said, “we’ll see,”

It’s more than a decade later noqlw and she was right. I do have a girl I like to tell her about.

The difference is, she can’t meet her.
