FINN

Me
I want help
Advice, to be precise.

I wait a moment.

He sees it.

Faizan
I’m busy.

That is Faizan’s language for “I am spending time with my wife, get lost.”

I make a face at my phone as if Faizan can see me. I’m about to put down my phone when I get another text.

Faizan
HE’S NOT BUSY! YOU CAN ASK HIM WHAT YOU WERE GOING TO!
(this is Arzo by the way, hi)

The next text comes from Faizan.

Faizan
What do you want?

Thank you, Arzo.

Me
How do I make my relationship healthy? And make her believe that I’m serious about her?

I am as smart as I can be when it comes to computer skills or business skills but I’m the dumbest person alive when it comes to relationships, that’s why I swore never to be in one.

Until Bree.

My parents weren’t the ideal couple, my mother was obsessed with my father’s money and showed it off everytime she could.

It’s hard to believe they fell in love before they got married. Growing up, Dad did everything in his power to spend time with us but mom only cared about status and wealth.

Greed kills.

I saw that first hand.

Faizan takes a while then his text reaches me.

Faizan
You need to be with her at her lowest and her best. Never promise her something you can’t do and let that hope kill her inside. The slightest gesture will mean everything to her if it’s done right whether it’s taking care of her or listening to her when she wants to talk about something, anything. Whatever work she puts into the relationship, appreciate it. Tell her. And if you both ever get in an argument, never make the mistake of including anyone outside your relationship, whether it’s your friends or family. Fix it yourself, communicate with each other. If an outsider steps in, no matter how good their intentions are, it will only put doubt in your heart.

I read through the whole text and let all his words settle in my brain. Right now, Faizan and Arzo are the best people to ask for advice about relationships.

Even though Faizan was most unlikely to get married, he did his best to make Arzo happy. And Arzo brought an unbelievably good change in him. Where Faizan barely understood his emotions and was numb, Arzo helped him learn himself and get better.

He’s still a lot quieter compared to the rest of us- including Ryan- but there’s a change noticeable for those who knew about his old nature.

He sends another text.

Faizan
Also, you can’t force a relationship to work. If you two are the best for each other, you will bring good change in each other’s nature, without realizing it.

Me
Thanks

Faizan
No problem. Don’t text me again.

Even if I did, he won’t reply.

“Finn!”

I flinch and look up at Veronica to find her throwing daggers at me with her eyes, clutching the folder in her hand.

“What?” I ask.

“Did you listen to a word I said?”

I stay quiet.

“You want to leave early?” I try to guess.

She sighs and rubs her forehead, “what are you so focused on?”

“Something special,” I mutter.

She looks at me through her glasses, letting her hand drop, “you got the girl?”

“Not exactly.” I admit, “there’s a process called dating,”

She hums.

“What do women like for dates?” I ask.

“All women have different opinions. Some like staying home, others like going out.”

“We can’t exactly go out in public. If the press gets a sniff of this and Ryan finds out, we’re both done for,”

I need to prove to Bree that she is the woman for me then we’ll handle Ryan’s wrath. Or more specifically, I will handle his wrath.

“Why don’t you ask her what she likes?”

“It won’t be a surprise that way,”

“Well, best of luck then,” she says, “I’m going to email you everything I said since you were busy daydreaming and yes, I would like to go home early tonight.”

“Have fun,” I grin.

Veronica shakes her head, turns around and leaves. I put away my phone, turn on my laptop and start searching.

Time to learn how to be the best boyfriend.
