As the night progressed, Daenys and Cregan found a moment of tranquility in the gardens of the Red Keep. The surroundings were serene, illuminated only by the light of the stars and the moon, providing an ideal setting for a quiet conversation.
Daenys and Cregan walked side by side, enjoying the peace and serenity of the place. Without the usual teasing and banter, their interaction was marked by a calm and mutual understanding, revealing a deeper connection between them.
"It's nice to have a moment of peace after all that commotion, don't you think?" Daenys said with a smile.
"I completely agree. Sometimes it's hard to find a moment to just breathe amid all this politics and diplomacy," Cregan said, nodding.
"You really did a beautiful job with this truce gift, Cregan. It's a perfect addition to my outfit," Daenys said with a smile, looking at the necklace around her neck.
"I'm glad you like it. I wanted it to be something that reminded us of our new peace, but also reflected your own greatness," Cregan said with a shy smile.
Meanwhile, Cassandra observed from a distance, her eyes fixed on the necklace now adorning Daenys's neck. She approached slowly, a mixture of curiosity and concern in her gaze.
"Daenys... may I speak with you for a moment?" Cassandra asked.
"Of course, Cassie. What's on your mind?" Daenys said, smiling at her friend.
As Daenys and Cassandra moved away for a private conversation, Lord Stark and King Viserys discussed in a more distant corner of the hall, their voices low but filled with meaning.
"My King, I appreciate the hospitality and the consideration you've shown to my children during our stay," Lord Stark said.
"It's good to have them among us, Lord. Cassandra and Rickon are remarkable young people and their company has been great for my daughter," Viserys commented, then sighed. "Lord Stark, allow me to be frank. I've been giving considerable thought to the rumors of an alliance between our houses through marriage."
"Your Grace, it is an honor that you consider our house for such a significant alliance," Lord Stark said with a serious expression.
"Daenys is my eldest daughter, and I only wish the best for her. Your son, Cregan, seems to be a noble and worthy young man," Viserys said.
"Cregan is an honorable and brave young man, loyal to the principles of our house. His marriage to Daenys would be an honor for Winterfell and House Stark," Lord Stark said, showing his sympathy for the princess.
"I understand that these decisions cannot be made lightly. There are many considerations to be made, and the well-being of our children is of utmost importance," Viserys said with a sigh.
"I agree, Your Grace. A marriage is a union that will affect not only the betrothed but also the future of our houses and the entire realm. It's a decision that must be carefully considered," Lord Stark said with seriousness.
"I understand. I trust your wisdom and discernment, Lord Stark. I know that any agreement we reach will be made with the best interests of our families and Westeros as a whole," Viserys said.
"I appreciate your words, Your Grace. Rest assured, I will give this matter my full attention and work to ensure that any agreement is beneficial for all involved," Lord Stark said with a nod.
Meanwhile, Prince Daemon and Princess Rhaenys watched Daenys from afar, their expressions a mix of concern and fraternal affection.
"She seems to be doing well, but something tells me there's more on her mind than she's letting on," the rebellious prince said, observing Daenys with seriousness.
"I agree. Daenys has always been a determined young woman, but sometimes that can lead her to bear burdens she shouldn't," Rhaenys said with a sigh.
"Leave the girl alone for tonight. She needs to unwind," Corlys commented, accompanied by the Queen.
"No need to worry about Daenys; she's been cared for by us. That girl with violet eyes at 14 knows more than we did at her age," the Queen said, with her hands resting on her back due to pregnancy.
"Wait, is that a Stark necklace?" Rhaenys asked, confused and indignant, causing Daemon and the others to look over.
"It must have been Cassie who lent it to her," Aemma said dismissively, but Daemon quickly disagreed.
"That necklace isn't Cassie's, and she was wearing the necklace I gave her at the beginning of the party," Daemon said indignantly, causing Corlys and Aemma to laugh at his reaction.
