The sun has set, and Aquaria is having me draw out my plans. We've been working on this "survival plan" for about 3 hours."How would you escape a wildfire?". She questions me as she hands me the clipboard. On the clipboard was a piece of paper with drawings of bushes, trees, and fire outlined with an orange pen.
I look at her as she waits to see my strategy.
"I'd jump through the fire?" I question her. The reason why I used that analogy is because the fire she drew had no escape route.
"No, find a tree, swing branch to branch until you've escaped." She explained.
"What, there aren't any trees?" I question.
"Then you're fucked". She says with a straight face. My face drops, is she serious?
She began to laugh as she saw my mood shift.
"I kid, you would find a gap between the fire and the surrounding area."
I chuckle as I write that down on the paper.
So far, we've gone over how to create traps and the importance of impulsivity. As important as weapons are, our mind is more important.
River steps out of her room, walking over to us.
Aquaria looks up at her.
River sits next to Aquaria.
"Well, look who's here to join us," Aquaria says as River gives her a grin; the grin is very sarcastic.
"What are you two doing?". River asks us.
"We're going over how to survive". I tell her as she leans in, placing her elbows on her knees, cuffing her face with the palms of her hands.
"So like what? How to use our weapons?". River questions Aquaria as Aquaria laughs.
"Why are you so resistant to weapons?" Aquaria questions River, giving her a stare-down.
River sits up, leaning back into the chair. "How else do you expect us to survive? Really." She says as Aquaria sighs.
"There's more to the games than just killing," Aquaria says as River laughs. "Right, it's not like it's called 'The Hunger Games' for a reason".
"River..." I say, frustrated, trying to shut her up.
"What? It seems like she won by luck". River says as Aquaria stands up quickly. "Don't you ever disrespect a victor; you think your training in District 4 will save you? I had to kill, not because I wanted to, but because I had to; there's a difference". Aquaria states as the River gets quiet.
River stands up, walking away. "This psychology shit isn't where it's at, and as complicated as the games may be, I will not waste my years of training for a conversation that refuses me to use my weapons; I'm smart, I'm intelligent, and with a spear." fast, on top of being skilled w River states, walking straight back into her room.
"I'm sorry..." Aquaria apologizes for raising her voice; she sits back down in her seat.
"It's fine; she disrespected you; she shouldn't disrespect a victor," I say as Aquaria grins.
"Two, victors". She says with a smirk on her face.
I chuckle a little. "You believe in me?". Her eyes widen as she, too, chuckles.
"Silver, you got it in you; you're the oldest of the bunch, very handsome, very fit, and from what we've talked about for hours, you seem very skilled." She says as she pauses, realizing I'm becoming sad. "You'll get tons of sponsors, love." She says as a tear drops from one of my eyes.
