Little ghost, little ghost

A day has passed, and the morning of a famous holiday has arrived. Numerous kids would be ecstatic knowing Halloween has finally come, but the Lewis kids are anything but that.

Yesterday was spent crafting a plan with their dad. He had offered to create a fake journal prop, wasting all their time, but hopefully, they can do something with it. Zander had not bothered them in the previous day. Rowan grew suspicious about why he wasn't around, and Juniper felt great relief. Her time is running out. Today may be her last day as a human.

Rowan knows Juniper didn't sleep well last night. She had gotten up several times last night, and it was a night of endless rustling. He's aware of this because he was also up. Not because he was anxious about what the day would bring but because he spent his time guarding the journal and creating a plan to catch Zander.

He remains in bed as he goes over the details one last time. The clock reads 7:00 in the morning as he hears Juniper rise again from her bed. This time, her door creaks open. He expects to hear sluggish footsteps follow it, but she quickly rushes into Rowan's room instead.

His door flies open. Juniper stands there, not saying anything. She breathes heavily. Rowan blinks away the tired tears from his eyes, wondering why she's just standing there. Until he sees it... See's her.

Juniper's gray skin had regained its warm color. She nods happily once she sees that her brother has noticed she is fully human again. To prove her point, she knocks her fist against the door. A solid knocking noise fills the room, followed by excited squeals.

"You look like," Roway says while getting up to touch her solid skin, "You look like you again."

"I guess that awful ghost was lying about the curse." A huge smile stretches across Juniper's face, "I knew nothing bad would happen to me."

Rowan goes to respond, but an angry voice rises throughout the house. It belongs to his dad.

"IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR BEHIND OUT THAT DOOR, YOU'LL HAVE A HARD TIME SITTING SOON."

The loud voice is followed by the click of a shotgun. Rowan and Juniper scramble downstairs to see what is happening. While attempting to sprint downstairs, Rowan's oversized flannel pants catch on the stairs, causing him to tumble to the bottom.

Juniper gasps behind him, but he waves it off as he rushes to the kitchen where his dad's voice is coming from. His vision is blurry from hitting his head against the stairs. He can't quite make out his dad's image, but he knows he's standing in the corner of the kitchen, pointing a gun near the table.

"How did you get in here?" Juniper's voice is laced with venom. She creeps across the room towards her dad, who says he'll take care of it.

Rowan's headache calms and his vision becomes clear once again. He follows where his family's eyes are trained to see a ghost sitting at his kitchen table. At a closer look, Zander appears more colorful than before.
