Minhyuk couldn't breathe; the water filling his chest didn't allow him to. His throat and lungs were burning as he tried to break up through the surface for some air. He just wanted to breathe, he needed to. No matter how hard he kicked his legs and tried swimming upward he wouldn't budge; his body refused to move.
Yes, he wants to die, but not like this. Not in the water. He thought that if he was going to die it would be quick and easy; by overdosing or slitting his throat, not by suffocating on water. He starts to think over his life and all the shitty decisions he has made. He regrets it a lot. He regrets faking his happiness. He regrets pretending to be someone he wasn't; somebody he would never be.
Minhyuk felt his vision going out slowly as darkness started taking over. He was just ready to die, free from all the pain he felt. Yet as he was dying there was still something keeping him from entirely giving in; of course. Even as he was in death's grip, the universe still gave Minhyuk a rough time.
'Minhyuk' he heard through barely audible muffles, but he knew it was his name being called out. That voice. He knew that voice but from where? Looking up with heavy eyelids a silhouette of a person is swimming toward him with an outstretched hand. The first thing he noticed was purple. Sanha? Minhyuk's body felt heavy as he tried to reach his hand out to the person and ultimately failed to do so. The water mixed with Minhyuk's blurring vision prevented him from being able to make out who the person was; the only feature he could see was purple locks.
Noticing Minhyuk's struggle the person in front of him reached out his arm taking Minhyuk's hand into his own. Instantly Minhyuk felt himself slipping away faster than before, and oh how he was ready to give into an eternal sleep.
'Live'
Minhyuk shot up out of bed in a cold sweat. He was on the edge of hyperventilating before somehow calming himself down. Just what the fuck was his dream about? Who was that fucking person and why did he tell Minhyuk to live? Purple; he instantly thought of Sanha. Was his sub-conscience telling him to live? Or was it just something Minhyuk wanted and never really realized? But then why would he dream of Sanha?
He had no idea. But, he did know that he wasn't going to be able to get any more sleep for the night.
"Morning Minhy- oh wow. Umm, how do I say this nicely? You know what fuck it. Minhyuk you look like shit." A shocked Sanha stood in front of a sleep-deprived Minhyuk. Minhyuk thought it would be easy to go back to sleep again, but boy was he wrong. Every time he closed his eyes to try and rest the image of Sanha telling him to live from his dream would appear in his mind, and he would hear him whisper; live.
So now Minhyuk was forced to look like a mess for the rest of the day. Rubbing his eyes he turns to look at Sanha and feels a twinge of anger inside himself.
"Yeah, thanks for letting me know something I already fucking knew dumbass." Very rude, Minhyuk thought to himself. Why was he being mean when Sanha hadn't done anything to him? He was being a fucking jerk for no reason, and in a way, he reminded himself of his dad; he didn't like it.
Something in Sanha's eyes changed. The purple-headed boy wanted to say something but was having an internal battle with himself. For the first time since Minhyuk met Sanha, he had never seen the younger boy speechless. It felt bizarre and Minhyuk didn't like it.
"Wow. Just what the fuck did I do to you?" Sarcasm made up his response making Minhyuk feel even worse. Sanha sat down next to the zombie-like boy with a scowl.
"Look I'm sorry. I'm just so tired."
"I could tell." A small smile made its way onto Sanha's face and Minhyuk's face dropped more; if that was even possible. Usually, Minhyuk would have a snarky remark or would completely just ignore the person and walk away, but with Sanha he didn't understand why he just couldn't bring himself to do that. Was it because of what Sanha had said? 'In the end, we're not that different.' Yes, that has to be why he was convinced it was.
With a slight huff of breath leaving his lips, Minhyuk continued.
"It's just this dream I had last night. I was drowning and it felt so real." Minhyuk rubbed his chest as if he could feel the burning sensation in his lungs.
"I was dying. But then, somebody came to me and told me to live. Then I woke up and it's been bothering me since I woke up."
"Did you see who the person was?"
It was you, Sanha. But of course, he was not going to say that. What if Sanha thought he was weird or something?
"No, I didn't. But I did hear their voice." Sanha looked to be in thought. While Minhyuk just observed the purple-headed ball of energy.
"Maybe it's a sign from a different world." Sanha stated as if it was a fact. Did he believe in other worlds? There is still a lot to learn about Sanha then, Minhyuk thought.
"Another world? You're for real?" Disbelief was laced in Minhyuk's voice as he looked at Sanha with skeptical eyes. The younger nodded his head vigorously, causing some of his purple hair to sway along with his head. Cute.
