Don't fuck up like you always do.

His father's words replayed in his head like a broken record. There was no 'goodbye' or even a hint of remorse in his voice. It was just a mix of anger and frustration; a combination that would send chills up anybody's spine, the exact way it had for Minhyuk.

It had been a few days since his arrival at Gateway Hospital, and with every day that went by, the more depressed he felt. His mind was having a field day and Minhyuk involuntarily obeyed as he stayed in the dingy room he has been placed in. Many times already had a staff member stopped by his room and try to convince Minhyuk to get up and join the many group sessions that were taking place, or to take a walk outside. Every single time their reasoning would be the same. A low knock on the door brings Minhyuk out of the prison that is his mind. He already knew what they were going to say.

So allowing the staff to save their breath he stood for the first time of the day and walked out leaving them standing in the doorway in shock. A faint 'that was easier than I thought' left their lips as Minhyuk made his way down the long white hallway. Once he made his way to the lounge area he sat on one of the grey couches in a secluded corner. Bringing his knees to his chest and resting his head on the wall, Minhyuk closed his eyes and tried to empty his mind.

Of course, it wasn't easy for him though, nothing is ever easy for Minhyuk. Instead of thinking of nothing he thought of something; his suicide attempt. He thought about how easy it had been for him to hurt himself and how he was more than ready to leave the living hell he calls his life. Minhyuk was reminiscing about the way it felt to be free. How he wouldn't have to worry about pretending to be something he isn't; happy. Yet his moment had to be ruined. His mother had to come home early and see him knocking at death's door, and she had to call an ambulance to rush him to the hospital.

He hated how his mother would always do things that would take away his happiness, and this was one of those moments. He was finally going to be free. He was finally going to be happy, but his mother took it away from him and instead sent him to a place that she claimed would help him, but in reality, it's just a prison where he will never 'get better' and instead continue down his spiral of misery.

The sound of slippers coming in Minhyuk's direction caused him to open his eyes when he saw a tall purple-headed boy sitting down next to him.

"Hey, newbie." The purple-headed boy spoke with the most cheerful tone. 'Just fucking great' is what Minhyuk already thought of the situation that he was about to be in. If he was being honest with himself, the truth is that he hates people. More specifically happy people. He doesn't understand why, maybe it's because they are everything Minhyuk isn't, perhaps he's envious because he isn't, and of course, he would never openly admit it.

So Minhyuk did what he does best; he ignored the boy who sat beside him and just hoped he would get the hint and leave him alone, but Minhyuk's life isn't easy like that.

"I'm Yoon Sanha. What's your name?" He had a curious spark in his eyes and Minhyuk felt himself wanting nothing to do with this conversation even if Sanha only asked for his name. Minhyuk mumbled his name and the purple-headed boy smiled while deciding to scoot closer to Minhyuk.

"So why are you here?" He didn't come off as rude, but Minhyuk felt himself bringing his knees closer to his chest. He didn't want to talk to this Sanha guy. If anything he just wanted to return to his room and give in to his disastrous thoughts. He wanted to be alone and this guy wasn't taking the hint.

"Where are you going?" Sanha dubiously asked. His eyebrows scrunched together and stood at the same time Minhyuk had. Without saying a word to the purple-headed boy Minhyuk walked past him in the direction of his room. Leaving Sanha standing while maintaining a look of confusion on his face

Minhyuk had always thought his life was hell, but boy was he wrong. Every day since Sanha decided to sit next to him, there has not had a quiet moment for Minhyuk. He can't even leave his room without being bombarded by the purple-headed ball of energy, and it's getting very exhausting. The only positive thing from this whole experience with Sanha is that Minhyuk hasn't thought about hurting himself once, but even then he still wants Sanha gone.

Today he had woken up extra early to go for a walk outside and to hopefully avoid Sanha and his eagerness to befriend Minhyuk. He had quietly made his way down the hallways toward the door that led to the back of the facility. He hates to admit it but it felt great to be outside. He still hates it at 'Gateway Hospital', but at least he was allowed to go out, and hopefully avoid a certain purple-headed boy.

He made his way to a bench to sit down as he looked at the lake that rested a couple of meters away from it. A deep sigh left his lips as he felt the cool breeze nip at his skin, and wished that the staff gave them jackets as he pulled the sleeves on his blue and white pinstriped pajamas to try and capture some warmth. He felt at peace with himself and his mind for the first time, but that didn't last long as he heard somebody sit beside him.

"Morning Minhyuk." Sanha had a bit too much enthusiasm for it being so early in the morning and in an instant, Minhyuk felt tired. Something similar to a grunt left Minhyuks lips causing Sanha to look up; a hint of worry shone in his eyes.

"What happened? Are you feeling sick?" He quickly reaches his hand out to touch Minhyuks shoulder, which the dark-headed boy stiffened at. Minhyuk has always hated physical touch and continues to do so at this very moment. So he slightly shifts his body to get away from Sanha, and thankfully the younger understands and retreats his hand and places it on this lap.

"No, I'm not sick. It's just that you're so happy all the time, and it's fucking sickening." Minhyuk stated with narrowed eyes and his voice dripping with disgust. If anything Minhyuk wanted to hurt his feeling so he could be left alone, but instead of the persistent boy leaving a low and emotionless chuckle leaves his lips; confusing him.

"So that's how you see me then." It was more of a statement rather than a question and if anything the change in Sanha's tone stunned Minhyuk. All these days Sanha had been nothing but smiles and giggles making Minhyuk question why the boy was here in the first place. He seemed to be genuinely happy with life. But, now that he was here sitting beside Minhyuk there was hurt and pain evident on the boy's face, how?

"Maybe you see me that way, but in the end, we're not that different. Some of us are just better at hiding it than others." and with that, Sanha left. He left Minhyuk alone and confused as his words replayed in his mind.
