The heavy drops and cold weather greeted them in the morning. None of them wanted to get up early. Yunjin and Chaewon were roommates, while the other three were together in the other room. Sakura stretched, fighting the urge to stay in bed longer. She went straight to the kitchen to look for something to cook for breakfast. Eunchae and Kazuha followed her when they smelled the aroma of sundubu jjigae. They wanted to cook eggs and toast bread, which was their idea as soon as their eyes met in the morning. Meanwhile, Yunjin and Chaewon were still in dreamland, lounging in their own beds.
"Good morning," Yunjin smiled and greeted Chaewon, who still had her eyes closed. "Good morning," Chaewon replied quietly. "They woke up so early. I can already smell our breakfast." Yunjin wrapped her legs around Chaewon. "Unnie, we have to get up," Yunjin said, fixing Chaewon's hair out of her face. "How can I get up if your legs are around me?" Chaewon replied. Yunjin laughed at how unserious they were.
The two eventually made their way to the kitchen to help their busy friends with breakfast. Yunjin brewed a pot of coffee for both of them, while Chaewon cracked an egg and expertly fried it. As Yunjin finished making the coffee, she joined Chaewon at the stove, sipping her coffee with a satisfied grin. "Wow, jagiya, you're really amazing at cooking," she playfully smiled.
And that's how their little skit as a married couple began. Chaewon carefully cut a small portion of her scrambled egg, blowing gently on it to cool it down. With a mischievous glint in her eye, she shoved the egg toward Yunjin, saying, "Here, jagiya, I made this with love."
"Are you two a married couple?" Kazuha appeared in front of them, raising an eyebrow.
"Soon to be, Zuha unnie," Eunchae replied.
The two laughed at the teasing, but inside, they couldn't help questioning why they weren't actually a couple. They finished their breakfast, but the rain continued to pour outside.
Five of them stood by in the living room, thinking about their plans while stuck at home because of the rain. "I think we could still go to a coffee shop or any diner to eat today, unnie," Yunjin shared her idea with the group. "Yeah, we could do that and also pick up some essentials," kkura replied. Eunchae whined, "Why is the rain always so inconvenient? We were supposed to go to the water park today!"
"Right," Chaewon sighed, and then Yunjin sat beside her and snuggled into her neck. The older one blushed at the casual gesture.
When the rain poured less heavily, they decided to go out and head to the coffee shop, following the rest of their plans for the day. Eunchae and Kazuha shared an umbrella while Chaewon and Kkura shared another, leaving Yunjin to walk alone with hers. Yunjin captured the backs of her unnies, which looked so romantic from her phone's camera lens.
Yunjin pushed the cart, following Chaewon, who was busy checking brands and prices as they picked up essentials. She thought they looked so domestic doing this together, until a guy approached Chaewon as if they knew each other.
"Chaewon, oh my god, it's been a while!" a guy exclaimed, opening his arms and waiting for Chaewon to hug him back. Chaewon was shocked to see her ex, Yeonjun. "Hey," she said, unsure of what to say. They were on good terms, but after the breakup, she hadn't spoken to him at all. Chaewon hugged Yeonjun back lightly.
"Why are you here?" Chaewon asked, curious about why he had shown up in the same place.
"We had a family gathering nearby, and we booked a place since the rain might get worse if we tried to leave," he explained. Chaewon nodded.
A cough interrupted their moment, and they turned to see Yunjin looking bored while waiting for Chaewon. "Oh right! Yeonjun, this is my friend Yunjin. We're on a short vacation here, which is why you see me," Chaewon said.
Yeonjun smiled at Yunjin. "That's nice! I hope you and your friends have a great vacation. You're glowing, Chaewon." Chaewon just smiled and thanked him.
"I'm sorry, Yeonjun, but we've got to go," Chaewon said apologetically, though in her mind, she wanted to escape.
"So... I'll see you around, Chae," Yeonjun said, hugging Chaewon again without waiting for permission. Yunjin watched the interaction between them and felt a pang in her chest at how comfortably they interacted.
"Who is he?" Yunjin asked. "He looked comfortable around you," she added.
"Ah, Yeonjun. He's my ex," Chaewon said casually.
"Okay. I didn't know about that," Yunjin replied, holding back more questions out of jealousy.
"Right. When you were in America, we barely updated because of the time difference. I didn't tell you I had a boyfriend—only Kkura unnie and a few others knew," Chaewon explained, making Yunjin feel hurt because she felt left out.
On the other hand, Chaewon couldn't shake the thought that after their vacation, everyone would return to their normal lives, and Yunjin would be far away from her once more.
As they finished buying what they needed, a heavy silence fell over them while they exited the store.
