Chaewon walked around the house to get some fresh morning air and sunlight after the downpour yesterday. It struck her that since the store incident, she and Yunjin hadn't spoken. Did she upset Yunjin by not mentioning her ex? Chaewon shook off the thought, convincing herself it wasn't her fault. Still, she began planning how to distance herself from Yunjin to suppress her growing feelings.
Yunjin got up from the bed without Chaewon on her side. She was still upset and didn't know how to approach Chaewon after the store incident last night. She went straight to the kitchen counter to make some coffee, but the timing wasn't right. Chaewon walked in, and their eyes met; neither was willing to break the contact as they both waited for the other to say something. Yunjin finally broke the silence and just said, "Morning," before leaving the scene.
"Oh, what's with the two of you? Did you have a fight?" Sakura asked, her curiosity sparked when she noticed that the two weren't together and weren't following their usual morning routine of clinging to each other.
"We did not," Chaewon replied. "But we saw Yeonjun yesterday, and I forgot that Yunjin doesn't know I had an ex."
"So Yunjin was upset?"
chaewon nodded.
"Just give her some time. You know Yunjin will probably miss you later. But if you make the first move, just talk to her," Kkura comforted her, which helped Chaewon decide to talk things out with Yunjin.
Yunjin sat on the balcony, fidgeting with the strings of her guitar and tuning it to keep herself busy and to avoid encountering Chaewon inside.
"Hey," Chaewon said as she approached and sat down next to her.
"Hey," Yunjin replied coldly. She was about to stand and ditch Chaewon, but Chaewon grabbed her wrist and said, "Let's talk, please."
"Are you going to ignore me until our vacation ends?" Chaewon asked, looking sad as she gazed at Yunjin. Yunjin sighed and sat back down.
"Fine."
"I'm sorry about last night and for not telling you about Yeonjun. I know you were upset, and it was rude of me to hide it from my best friend," Chaewon apologized sincerely.
Yunjin couldn't stay mad at Chaewon; it felt childish to keep ignoring her over something that was in the past. "I'm sorry too for acting like this. It's just... I felt left out."
The two softened after their brief and sincere conversation, but Yunjin felt butterflies in her stomach as she gazed at how beautiful her best friend was. She had been admiring Chaewon's beauty for a long time.
"So... what are you playing?" Chaewon asked.
"Oh, it's nothing," Yunjin replied shyly, scratching the back of her head like a wolf meme. "It's 'Picture You' by Chappell Roan," she said, feeling embarrassed.
Yunjin positioned her guitar on her lap and started to strum it. She felt a surge of emotion as she began singing the first line, looking at Chaewon during the chorus as if she were telling the lyrics to her.
"Do you picture me like I picture you?
Am I in the frame from your point of view?
Do you feel the same? I'm too scared to say
Half of the things I do when I picture you."Chaewon, watching her best friend sing, felt a spark in their connection. Those eyes felt like they were hers. Chaewon snapped out of her thoughts and broke eye contact. When Yunjin finished the song, Chaewon exclaimed, "That was great, Yunjinah!" She clapped, smiled at her, and then excused herself, leaving Yunjin alone on the balcony.
Yunjin felt like she had malfunctioned after singing to Chaewon, who had already left. She slapped her forehead, overwhelmed by a wave of embarrassment that felt almost feverish. She was certain of her feelings but unsure of how to confess.
Chaewon went straight to the bathroom and washed her face, trying to cool down the heat she was feeling. She didn't want Yunjin to see how hard she was blushing. Yunjin's effect on her was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore, and she struggled to act like it was nothing. Staring at the mirror, no thoughts , just yunjin. Chaewon made a pupuest face at her reflection; she felt doomed, realizing she couldn't keep ignoring her feelings.
"Have you seen them, unnie? They're acting like teenagers and don't know how to confess their feelings," Eunchae said, munching on her smile potato beside Kkura.
"Should we help?" Zuha suggested.
Kkura paused what she was doing and looked at the two. "Not a bad idea."
The three of them began chatting quietly, planning how to help the two become fearless about their feelings.
Not long ago, Chaewon and Yunjin found themselves together like magnets in their own room, joking around and watching silly videos. Chaewon was lying on Yunjin's arm, hugging her from the side, while Yunjin held the phone, her eyes glued to the screen.
"Yunjinnie, I feel sleepy," Chaewon said. Yunjin looked down at her, taking in Chaewon's face up close—those plump, natural pink lips seemed inviting. Yunjin's gaze shifted from Chaewon's eyes to her lips.
"Unnie..."
"Hmmm..." Chaewon hummed, waiting for Yunjin to say something. Yunjin turned off the phone and set it on the side table, avoiding her lips and resisting the temptation to do something impulsive.
"You should rest up," Yunjin said.
"What about you?" Chaewon asked.
"I'm going to get some water outside, unnie... I'll be back," Yunjin replied as she hopped out of bed and closed the door behind her. Yunjin screamed internally as she escaped the tension in their room. "Yunjin!" Kkura called out to her. Yunjin turned toward Kkura's voice and felt a bit weirded out by the smile she gave her.
"What the hell does she want from me?"
