Reviewing grades

In the living room of the Forge homes, all the family members were around the room, doing their things. As Yor was in the kitchen and y/n was reviewing a school book on a topic she's going over in one of her classes, Anya and Loid were tenser from a certain thing that one of them was holding.

Even if Anya was in front of the TV, her favorite show would be playing, her focus was on her dad as he's reviewing recent graded papers, showing poor scores she got river her time at school. Loid's eyes flick to Anya, who keeps her face hidden, the silence between the two was so full of tension, that it could fill someone's throat to stop them from speaking, but Loid had to start. "So about your grades..."

"Anya isn't here right now." The pinkette quickly interjects, not wanting to talk about her grades now or even later. Loid sets the papers down as the lights go on, making Anya stand up, and throw a fit. "Ah, no! I don't wanna study!" She tries to make a run for it, but Loid is quick to grab her. "Hold it right there." Huffing as he holds the terrified girl up, he continues. "We made a deal. 5 pm is study time.

Anya panics even more, desperate to get out of Loid's grip. "You're a demon!" She cries as Loid watches her exasperatedly.

Operation Strix, Phase Two. In order to infiltrate my target's inner circle, we need to earn our way into his social gatherings. And to do that, Anya must become an Imperial Scholar. It's for that reason that I need to ensure she gets good grades and receives the required Stellas as a reward.

Anya soon sits down, a question sheet in front of her with a pencil in hand. She squeezes her eyes tight and kicks her legs as she tries to come up with the answer. Loid watches her reaction and speaks up. "I've told you this before, remember? That's spelled with an E, not an A" He asks as Yor and y/n come over with trays. As the food takes a closer look at the graded paper. "Uh, you know what, Loid? Her math score's good, considering. Very well done, Anya. Keep it up!"

Anya narrows her eyes to a stern look as she repeats what she learned. "He's got two-eighths of his bullets left."

Before YOr can question it, Loid sighs. "From her cartoon. Oh, look, this proverb here is the same one that Bondman was saying in episode 16."

Anya scrunched her face, upset. "I don't remember." This frustrates Loid and he makes gestures with his hands. "Well, try to! You know, it's the episode that the guy with the sideburns was in." But Anya's expression remains.

This stinks! I only did badly on this test cause I read the wrong kid's mind in class. From now on, I'll do some investigating first. I'll figure out which of my classmates are good at which subjects and read the right minds. That way, I can accomplish my mission and get the perfect score every time. I sound just like Papa.

Loid sighs and thinks about more ways to achieve his goal.

It'd be easy to make all her scores an A+ using underhanded methods. But if she suddenly scored that high, the school and her classmates would become suspicious. In order to make a move like that seem natural, I need her to actually improve first. Plus, if she started to look like a genus out of the blue, her peers might begin to resent her.

Anya reads Loid's mind and gasps at this. She barely takes in Loid talking to her and her mind spirals at this revelation.

If  I read everyone's minds and get hundreds, they'll all hate me?

"Hey, how could you have possibly known that answer?" "She's a freak, like some kinda witch!"

Her throat starts to hurt and she looks down, grabbing her parents and sister's attention. Realizing that she's upset. Loid exists his calculating mind and takes a more empathetic look at the pinkette.

On second thought, maybe I'm pushing her too hard. With her studying against her will like this, I'm unlikely to see any significant progress. There are other ways of earning Stella besides academics. Maybe she could use a change of pace.

With that set in mind, Loid smacks his thigh with determination.  "All right. Why don't we take a break and do some drawing?"He asks, making the little girl gasp with delight, making Loid smile.

Maybe art's her thing.

On the paper, Anya is using crayons to draw what seems to be a spotted dog with a long nose and a smile shaped like a chili pepper. That looks neat!" Loid smiles, watching her go. "Is that a cheetah?" He asks, making Anya stare at him wide-eyed as he goes on. "Or, no, wait. I bet it's a panda!"

Anya answers blankly."It's a cow. The one that went wild at school. They go silent for a moment, just staring at each other for a moment. Yor wanted to join in to ease the situation but she was distracted by y/n's sketch of the main classrooms. Loid moves on, holding a violin. "How about music?" He asks, still smiling. "I've got this violin for children."

Anya plays the instrument in the way a cello would, only making painful-sounding squeaks, making the strings snap. Loid then takes out a tennis racket, still optimistic. "There's always sports!" Anya was unsuccessful in hitting a single ball with the racket. She then tries to go over a small gymnastic hurdle only to slip and hit her face on it and fall to the ground. Anya leans her head up, her face red and tears streaming down, wailing in pain.

Loid calmly helps her up, taking a breath. "Don't cry." He tells her, being careful.

Patience, Twilight. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't forget she's only in first grade. I have to figure out what she's good at, help her excel in it, and maybe she'll earn some Stella.

Yor rushes over, trying to distract Anya. "Why don't we play with the jump rope? It's a lot of fun!" Anya wipes her tears away and goes to her as Loid watches this.

I can't rush this. Desmond isn't going to make his move right away. Don't panic. It takes a long time to begin a war, and even longer to plan one. But...

As Anya is playing jump rope, Handler's words echo in the spy's head.

"HQ estimated that she'd need to acquire her eight Stella in about four months."

Can I really be sure we have that much time to spare?

Anya falls to the ground, tangled up in the rope. "Papa, I'm gonna do my best." She said determined, surprising Loid. She then continues. "But first, untie me."

Loid snaps out of it and goes to help her. "Oh, yeah. Anya, how about we go somewhere tomorrow?"

Anya perks up at this. "An ooting?"
