Hoseok let out a long, relieved sigh as he finally wrapped up his last class of the day. He stretched his arms above his head, feeling the pleasant ache of tired muscles. The day had dragged on, and he was more than ready to unwind. His gaze wandered over to the cafeteria table where his friends had gathered.
Namjoon and Jin were engaged in their usual lunchtime ritual—feeding each other, much to Hoseok's mixed amusement and exasperation. Watching them was a bit like witnessing a well-rehearsed performance.
Jin would hold up a forkful of food with exaggerated enthusiasm, while Namjoon would pretend to be a starved actor on a stage. Hoseok rolled his eyes, feeling a pang of loneliness. The sight of his two friends being so lovey-dovey only emphasised his own single status.
His attention then shifted to Yoongi, who, as expected, had his head resting on his arms. The rhythmic rise and fall of Yoongi's shoulders as he slept was almost comical, and Hoseok shook his head with a knowing smile.
But it was Taehyung who caught Hoseok's eye next. Taehyung was carefully unwrapping a strawberry cake with a look of mild concentration on his face. Hoseok was about to call out to him, curious about the latest addition to their lunch spread, when Jin's voice cut through the murmur of the cafeteria.
"Jimin, come here!" Jin's call was enthusiastic, and he waved at the short, spirited boy approaching from the other side of the room.
The entire table turned to look, their curiosity piqued. What was more surprising was the sudden shift in Yoongi's demeanour.
The previously slumbering boy shot up from his resting position, his eyes wide and alert, betraying the fact that he had been deep in sleep just moments before. He tried to play it cool, pretending as if he hadn't been caught in the act. Hoseok couldn't help but narrow his eyes, a smirk forming on his lips. Clearly, Yoongi had a soft spot for Jimin.
Taehyung, observing the scene unfold, struggled to suppress a laugh. He knew exactly why Yoongi had suddenly "awoken" from his nap. Jimin's name had that effect on him. It was an open secret among their circle of friends that Yoongi had a serious crush on Jimin, and it was both amusing and endearing to watch.
Jimin, accompanied by his best friend Jungkook, made his way to their table. Jungkook was engrossed in his phone, his fingers moving rapidly over the screen as he walked. The two friends had a natural ease about them, their camaraderie evident in the way they moved together.
"Hey, hyungs!" Jimin's cheerful voice cut through the din of the cafeteria as he approached the table.
"Hey, Jimin!" came the chorus of greetings from the group, their voices mingling in a warm reception.
Jimin slid into the chair next to Yoongi, who, despite his best efforts to appear uninterested, couldn't hide the slight twitch of his lips at Jimin's proximity. Jungkook, following closely behind, took the only remaining seat next to Taehyung, his presence a subtle but noticeable addition to the circle.
"I'm starving~~~" Hoseok whined dramatically, drawing a collective sigh from the table. His eyes roved over the spread, landing with evident longing on the strawberry cake that Taehyung was carefully unwrapping.
"Well, I've got some fruit," Jin said with a hint of suggestion in his voice, holding up a small container of assorted fruits. Hoseok's face twisted in a look of disapproval. Clearly, he wasn't in the mood for something so health-conscious.
Hoseok's gaze, however, remained fixated on Taehyung's cake. The sight of the decadent strawberry confection, topped with fresh strawberries and a glossy glaze, seemed to have a magnetic effect on him. Taehyung glanced up and caught Hoseok's hungry stare. His lips curled into a protective smirk.
