I'm tuff, just like Dally said I was. I think Dally might be a homosexual, since he seems all defensive when I ask him about it. I punched a soc kid today and made him cry, he was my age."

I put my pencil down, feeling my face burn red. I'm not a homo. I clenched my bruised fists as I swallowed the spit that was filling my mouth. I heard Soda come into my bedroom. "Ponyboy, your boyfriend's here!" I hated when Soda teased me, but at least Johnny was here. "I'm sleepin' over, Pony" My eyes lit up as I heard his voice. I knew it was because of his home situation that he wanted to stay. "You can sit, Johnny" My voice was a bit cheerful, and I saw him smile as he climbed into my bed. Johnny Cade was in MY bed! I sat on my bed with him, seein' him pull out a pack of smokes. I take one, lighting it and taking a puff. Johnny then pulled a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket, it was the letter I wrote him last month. "I didn't know you liked sunsets too, Pony. That's tuff" His voice was soft and raspy like rain in the fall. It was getting pretty late, and Johnny was starting to yawn his head off. He leaned against me, already asleep. I gently put him down onto the pillow, covering him up as I laid down next to him. I fell asleep fast this time.

In the morning, I was woken up by Darry and Soda comin' into my room. "Darry look, Ponyboy's holdin' his boyfriend!" He laughed at me as Darry just stood and practically stared into my little soul. That's when Johnny woke up to me holdin' him, I saw his face go red, but he didn't move. "Soda, get out!" I wasn't very pleased with him wakin' Johnny up. "Sleep good?" My voice softened as Johnny gave me a nod. "Never had another boy hold me before.."
