(Johnny's POV)
Pony don't love me. He can't be a homosexual. Pony's too tuff for that. I guess what I'm tryna say is, my family wouldn't like it very much. Not like they like me anyway. I should quit.
I remember going to bed that night after me and Dally were in the park, Pony looked mad at him. I remember Dally fiddling with the switchblade in his pocket, he kinda reminds me of my dad in a way. I start dreaming some real bizarre stuff.
It went like this: "Johnny, come down for breakfast son!" My pops was yelling, as usual, but he'd never call me down for breakfast before. I went down, expecting to get a beating. My dad hugged me as he sat me down, giving me a good looking breakfast of my favorite food. Waffles. My mom was looking through my jacket, checking for holes. She said she'd sew them up.
That's when I woke up in the hospital. I could feel the pain of the burns the church had left on me. I felt like I was still on fire, and then I saw Dally come in. He didn't say anything, but his arm was in a sling. That's when I remember the church fire completely. I was a hero, at least that's what the papers said. They had me shirtless on this bed because of how bad my back and neck had been burnt, but I didn't mind. It was better than going home. I had received a letter from Ponyboy.
"Hey Johnny, Pony here. I really hope you're okay, pal. Get well soon, will ya?"
- P.B Curtis.
I smiled at the letter when the doctor gave it to me, since Pony writes to me every month. Still, that was a weird dream.
