'The curfew'

Stefan's POV:
Dear Diary,
I couldn't stop Elena from dying, she asked me to save Matt and I did, I thought she would die but she's a vampire, she had Damon's blood in her system because Meredith Fell gave her Damon's blood. I don't want this for Elena, she told me once that she never wanted to be a vampire, she is too good for this darkness. When I was a ripper with Klaus, he told me about an immortal witch who was buried with a cure, the cure to vampirism, I figured he was telling the truth as he wanted to keep Elena human for her blood and he knew that Rebecca wanted to be human. When Elena became a vampire, I decided I needed to find this cure, so I found Klaus' body and asked Lucy to cloak it. Bonnie uncloaked his body and she and Lucy transferred him back into his body, he told me I needed a hunter with a mysterious tattoo, the one Damon was torturing. I freed him and I am keeping an eye on him as per Klaus' request. I cannot tell anyone, if I tell Damon he will interfere; he likes Elena as a vampire even though he knows this isn't right, Bonnie isn't strong enough to understand this magic that is needed to obtain the cure and I don't want to give Elena false hope. I never wanted this for her, part of me knows her fate would be different if we had never met, but I love her and because I love her I have to give her a chance at being human again, even if she doesn't want to be human with me.

Third-Person POV:
Elena is sitting in the grill with Caroline. "So, Caroline what did you want to talk to me about, I was just about to see Damon" Elena asks stirring her coffee, "Klaus came by" Caroline announces, "Klaus, why?"Elena frowns, "He wanted to apologise for using Tyler's body as a vessel, the usual," Caroline says sarcastically, "Right" Elena nods, "Ok, spill" Caroline demands, Elena narrows her eyes, Elena shakes her head, "It's nothing, Care" Elena smiles, drinking her drink, "Fine, why are you going to see Damon?" Caroline stares, "He thinks I let the hunter go, my humanity and everything, he's pissed" Elena sighed, "Did you?" Caroline quizzes, Elena shakes her head, "No", she sighs drinking her drink, "But I think I know who did" Elena stands up, "I have to go, sorry" Elena hugs Caroline and leaves.

Damon woke up and decided he needed to annoy Stefan, "So, which forest animal is featured in your diary today?" Damon smirked, "Damon" Stefan sighed, "Don't you have anything better to do?" Stefan closed his diary, "Nope. My sole purpose is to annoy you, an eternity of misery remember?" Damon joked Stefan rolled his eyes, "Right, I forgot" Stefan put his hand to his forehead, "Anyway, I'll leave you be, you're all mopey and moody, really bringing down my morning, Stef", Damon tapped him on the head and left the room.
Elena arrives at the boarding house, the door is open, and she walks in straight into Damon, "Woah, watch where you're going, little miss 'I'm on a mission" Damon smirks, Elena tucks her hair behind her ear "sorry" she smiles, Damon walks over to the wet bar and pours a glass of bourbon "bourbon?" Damon gestures to his glass, Elena shakes her head, "It's 8 am" She frowns "I know" Damon smiles, Elena sits down on the opposite side of the couch, "I'm not going to bite, Elena" Damon nods at the space between them, Elena shifts in her seat, eyes evading Damon, "Right" Damon sighs "awkward" Damon mumbles. Elena moves further up the couch closer to Damon and places a cushion between them, Damon looks at the cushion but doesn't move it, he sighs "It seems the hunter I was so enjoying torturing, is nowhere to be seen, you wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you?" Damon narrows his eyes, "Are you accusing me?" Elena asks fiddling with her sleeves, "I just wondered if your saviour complex had been activated" Damon smirks, Elena shakes her head, she removes the cushion and turns her body towards Damon, "I might know who did?" Elena sighs, and Damon nods signalling Elena to continue, "I came by the other night, you weren't here, it was just me and Stefan, he seemed nervous and agitated. He'd been drinking human blood I could smell it, he wasn't a ripper or anything" Elena clarifies, "He went away and when he came back, he seemed guilty like he was in a shame spiral, I went to call Caroline and when I came back he was in the basement. Alone" Elena stares at Damon intently, "Who's stash?" Damon mumbles, "I told you Stefan was drinking human blood, released the hunter and all you want to know is who's stash?" Elena asks in frustration, Damon sighs and downs his bourbon, "Mine or his?" Damon asks again, "His" Elena nods, "Hm" Damon pours another bourbon, "and the hunter, you sure it was Stefan?" Damon walks back to the couch, "positive" Elena sighs, "So what are you going to do?" Elena takes the bourbon, "I thought it was too early?" Damon quizzes, "Well your brother who's my boyfriend pissed you off, and you tend to want payback on people who piss you off, figured I should brace myself for your actions to come" Elena drinks the bourbon, and Damon snatches the bourbon back, "I'm going to have a nice friendly chat with my brother" Damon states, Elena looks at him in confusion, "Don't worry, I won't kill Stefan at least not before graduation, although this will be the millionth time he's graduated so I don't see the importance, although it would suck for you" Damon sips his bourbon, "oh, well" Damon shrugs, "You can't kill Stefan, he's your brother" Elena pleads, "Relax, I won't kill him. We're on better terms and despite what people think, I'd like to keep it that way" Damon smiles, "However, I intend to find out just exactly why Stefan decided to release the one person besides Klaus and the original weirdoes who can kill us, and I may or may not have to use my methods to find out as I theorise Stefan may not be too forthcoming with his motives, well to me anyway" Damon sighs, "I can find out" Elena suggests, "I..if.. If you want" Elena sighs, "You're going to interrogate your boyfriend?" Damon asks, Elena takes the bourbon again and nods "I'm curious, too" Elena states, "He's upstairs and he's brooding, have at it" Damon shrugs, Elena nods "Ok." Elena sighs shifting in her seat, "something the matter" Damon is staring at the fire his back turned, "how did you?" Elena asks, "I can hear the couch, squeaking" Damon clarifies turning towards Elena, "Elena?" Damon is standing in front of her, Elena smiles and shakes her head, "nothing" She sighs standing up, Damon vamps out of the parlour, he returns with a blood bag, "for the road" he gestures to the bag, Damon hands the bag to Elena, "I'd hide it if you don't want my brother stealing it" Damon smirks, Elena takes the bag and puts it in her school bag, "Thank you" Elena smiles, "No, problem" Damon smiles, moving out of the way.
Elena walks up the stairs into Stefan's room, "hey" She smiles, Elena kisses Stefan on the cheek, "So you plan on interrogating me or is that Damon's job" Stefan looks up from writing in his diary, Elena shakes her head, "I just want to know why" Elena folds her arms," Stefan?" she sighs, Stefan stands up, he removes his shirt, "I can't tell you, trust me?" Stefan states, "Do you want a ride to school, I'll be ready in a minute" Stefan kisses her on the head before getting in the shower. Elena stands there frozen, she shakes her head before leaving his room. Stefan goes downstairs, Elena is drinking a blood bag, "Are you ready?" Stefan kisses Elena softly, Elena nods grabbing her school bag.
