Kiyo POV

Inside the White Room, there were rooms for various activities. One was a heated swimming pool used year-round, important for developing physical skills with low impact on the body.

Swimming also relieved stress for the children. Sessions lasted two hours: a 30-minute lesson, a 10-minute break, 30 minutes of competitive swimming, and 30 minutes of free time.

During free time, I observed the children by the pool.

"I knew I'd find you here. You set a new record again today."

"I haven't reached the instructor's time yet."

"We're children, they're adults. It's not strange we can't reach it. But it's frustrating I can't beat you anymore, Kiyo well one day I do and the next 2 days you take number 1 before you over take again it's kinda like a cycle"

Until a few weeks ago, Yuki undoubtedly was the fastest swimmer.

"Since you passed me, and it takes me longer to catch up to you. How can you swim so well? I've been practising just as hard."

"Breath-hold."

"What?"

"Your form is perfect until you take a breath. Improve that, and your time will improve."

"Annoying instructor didn't tell me that."

"Swimming instructors don't tell you everything. They want you to figure some things out yourself."

"You can see yourself and your surroundings. I don't have that luxury."

"I'm the same way, just pushing through."

Many new to the curriculum were falling behind.

Without the fundamentals, one focuses too much on memorising instead of understanding. Yuki and Shiro often got good results quickly because they grasped the basics naturally.

I didn't envy them; it was proven that anyone could catch up by learning and consolidating the basics. It was okay to struggle at first. The first step was building a solid foundation.

Yuki stood still, looking at me.

"Do you need something?"

"Is it strange for me to speak with you without a purpose?"

"Yeah, usually you talk to me if you need something."

"That's not true?!"

"You're the same as always Yuki."

She had been talking to me more recently, even without a specific reason. Why did she do such inefficient things?

She wasn't a bad subject for observation, and without instructors watching, we couldn't be reprimanded.

"Can I ask you a question?" I asked.

"Sure," Yuki said, puzzled.

"How come you're so good at conversing?"

"What? I don't know about that." I'm not praising you Yuki... whatever

"You're at least better than me. I'm just not willing to speak."

"I'm not really motivated either, but... I don't know."

"How can you laugh? You laughed before."

"Why? ...I don't know that either. Didn't we have a similar conversation about this before?"

"Yes"

"Why repeat it again then?"

"Do you have something else to talk about?"
