Year 850

Izanami's POV

✩ •̩̩͙ * ˚ ☆ .

I walk slowly towards the carriage waiting for me, my mind racing with thoughts. We are better prepared this time than we were when Shiganshina fell. We have more soldiers now, and I feel ready for what lies ahead. Maybe I'm even ready to face death, if that's what it comes to. I'm not sure, but I feel as prepared as I can be.

"Izanami Ryokai!" I hear Pixis call out sharply. I turn to see him standing nearby. A soldier opens the door to my carriage, and Pixis walks toward me.

"Commander," I say, a bit surprised to see him here. Did he come just to say goodbye? Pixis looks at me with a serious expression, not saying a word. "Pixis, I need to get to Trost. I don't have time for this," I explain, hoping he understands the urgency.

I can tell that Pixis notices the emptiness in my eyes, the lack of any spark or hope. His hand gently rests on my head, and his voice is soft, almost hesitant. "I'm sorry to do this to you," he says, his tone heavy with sympathy.

I nod slightly, understanding what he's trying to convey. "But it's the right thing to do," I respond firmly. "And you're wise to send me there." Pixis removes his hand, and I raise my arm to give him a precise salute. "I will dedicate my heart."

I move toward the carriage, my footsteps deliberate and heavy. As I get inside and turn to look back, Pixis stands still, his posture resolute as he salutes me. The carriage begins to roll away, and his words echo in my ears: "Humanity is grateful for your service, Izanami Ryokai!"

I pull the curtain closed and take a deep breath. The interior of the carriage is dimly lit, and I close my eyes, trying to find a moment of calm before the storm. This brief period of peace will be the last I experience before the battle starts.

I jolt awake as the carriage comes to a sudden stop, and the motion pulls me from my restless slumber. The carriage door swings open, and I step out, greeted by a row of Garrison soldiers standing in formation. They salute sharply as I stand before them, their faces a mix of curiosity and respect.

One of the soldiers, a young man with an eager expression, speaks up. "We have been awaiting your arrival, Izanami Ryokai." His voice is clear, but I barely register his words. Instead, I find myself distracted by the sight of the Trost District unfolding before me.

The walls of Wall Maria loom in the distance, a stark reminder of the vast separation from my previous station. My gaze shifts upward, taking in the imposing presence of the castle nearby. The landscape around me is different from what I'm used to, and I can't shake the feeling of disorientation.
