What Would You Do for Love

Chapter 5

I took a small nap, probably about an hour or two and I wake up to this message from Josh.
" Hey Anna sorry I just now saw your message and I'm glad you decided to go to the movies with me and you can pick the movie that's fine with me lol but can we plan on going to the movies Saturday evening? I'll pick you up sometime in the morning and maybe we could hang out at the mall if that's okay with you well mmb soon and thanks for giving me a chance."
I go to then kitchen to make a snack and I noticed a note on the counter saying
" Hey sweetie I went to the store with Mark I'll be back soon. Love, Mom❤️ "
Who's Mark? I've never met a Mark that Mom would go to the store with. Then I stop and think what if Mark is the guy with the muscle car and the one who was passed out on the couch with Mom? I really hope not because to be honest I don't want Mom to be with anyone and I'd like it to be just me and her. It used to be Mom, Dad, and me but Dad died when I was nine because of lung cancer. One day he woke up and was chocking and my mom called the ambulance and they was there in about ten minutes at the most. Then he was in the hospital for about a week and he started doing better and the doctors said he should be able to come home soon. Then one day we don't know what happened but he never woke up so apparently he died in his sleep and his lungs were filled to the top with water. After that Mom was really distant with me and she was really depressed and it took her a few years before she was even close to her old self. After she was better she decided to start sleeping around and I bet that's what she was doing with Mark but that's none of my business. I sat in the kitchen eating some chips and I having a coca cola, after I'm done with my chips I take my coca cola to my room. I open my laptop and it says I have ten messages. I open my messages and it says one message from Karly, three from Josh, and six from Lee. Lee? Why is Lee messaging me? I thought I told him to never message me ever again? So I decided to just ignore him, I click on Josh's messages since he's taking my to the movies tomorrow.
" Hey... "
" Please forgive me."
" I probably don't deserve it but please. "
" I never intended to hurt you that's the last thing I'd ever want to do. "
" I'm sorry and I made the bet before I even knew you and I'm terribly sorry I truly am. "
" I'm so sorry I hope you forgive me but if you don't I understand I suppose this will be the last message you'll get from me. "
What is Josh talking about? He never made a bet on me, did he? Why would this be the last message? Then I think for a second and I realize it sounds like Lee so I lean closer to the screen and I look at the name and it says "Lee💔" shoot I didn't mean to open his messages. Now I feel like an awful person ugh. Anna look what you done, you just broke this boy's heart. Now I have to say something because I don't want him to see that I read it and think I'm being stuck up or ignoring him or whatever. So I say
" I'm not mad I was just hurt but I forgive you and I'm sorry about flipping out on you and I believe you that you never intended to hurt me but it still hurt... A lot actually but like they always say Forgive but never Forget but I think we could be friends for now.
Then I decided to actually open Josh's messages and they say
" Hey I'm sorry but we can't go to the movies. "
" I already made plans I forgot about. "
" Maybe another time... Sorry. "
What does he mean? He literally was begging me to go to the movies and now that I agreed he just blows me off. Ugh I bet he made plans with that blonde chick he met at the bar. Whatever I didn't really want to go, it doesn't mean anything I'll just stay home tomorrow and probably sleep, watch Netflix, or be on my laptop one of those. Then I open Karly's message which says
" Hey girl just wanted to tell you I got home safe and Josh told me about what happened with the movie plans and I'm sorry but it'll be okay love ya girly, I'm always here for ya "
In a way I kinda feel like Karly's in on this somehow because Josh and Karly have never liked each other, ever so I know something's up I just don't know what it is. After about two hours of me watching Netflix someone knocks on the door and I thought it was Mom and maybe she forgot her key so I look through the peephole and see some dude standing there in a black suit. I didn't know who it was so I asked who it was.
"Who is it."
" Randy"
"Randy?"
"Thompson, can you just open the door?"
"What are you doing here Randy?" I say with the door still closed
" I'm here to talk to Angelia Burton about something important, I believe she's your mother."
" She's not here right now but I'll tell her you came by Randy."
" Thanks well here's my card to give her and tell her I'd like to finish this project soon." He says while sliding a card through the mail slot in the door.
" No problem, goodbye Randy."
That was really weird I've never heard Mom talk about a Randy or about any project? What is going on? Mom needs to come clean about a lot of things.
