"The Claw" ~ Aot x reader insert

You walked slowly, head hung low, your expression couldn't be saw cause of the shadow over your face due to your hair.

"Owh, you had another nightmare? Cmon, let's just watch the moon and forget that you even had it."

Her voice ringed in your head as you walked slowly toward the body.

"OW! How did you do that! I thought you weren't good in fighting! Teach me your ways."

You remember when you spared together, by that time you had learnt more from Mikasa and finally won against Laura.

"You know. I really consider you my closest friend here, I trust you with all my life and I know you won't backstab me."

You were outside the barracks when she told you that. It was night again and she wanted to look at the stars together with you. She felt rather bad at that moment, some people picked on her for being smart in classes and you had confronted them about it, making them apologize. Obviously you confronted them in a very nice way.

"The moon is beautiful isn't it?"

You asked Laura in a day when you were training with the gear, flying in the air you stopped on a tree branch with Laura and when you looked up you could see the moon in bright daylight.

When you turned your gaze toward her after looking at the moon a bit more you saw her starring at you, she was smiling, but she looked sad, she was smiling weakly at you, making you confused. Then she also titled her head back, looking up at the sky, but not at the moon, she looked in another direction, gazing at the sun, its rays of light peaking thru the branches and the trees of the forest you were in.

"The sun is beautiful...isn't it?"

She asked you, not looking back down at you.

All these memories came back to you when you had finally reached where the body was on the ground, turning your body so you were facing it.

"Plus I'll protect you if you were in danger." 

"Promise?"

"Promise."

At the last memory, a tear dropped on the ground. A tear. Your tear. You had been holding your tears back while walking. A tear had managed to escape.

You looked down at the body. It was her. Laura.

You were too slow. The last Titan got to her before you, certainly. 

"Damnit..."

You cursed under your breath, another tear escaped.

Laura was laying on the ground, on her back. Her eyes were half open, there was barely any light left in them. Her mouth was open. Her right leg and part of her right abdomen was missing.

"I broke my promise. I was too slow." You whispered, lowering your head even more, you had clenched your blades so hard that your knuckles turned white.

"I'm sorry..." You whispered again, you could barely see her anymore from the tears in your eyes.

"Don't cry..." Your eyes opened wide, your tears disappearing as you looked at her in shock. You were barely able to hear her voice.
