Nathan sighed as he and Carter went to English class.

Mrs. Castellanos was already there, setting up for the lesson.

He took his seat and pulled out his book, trying to ignore the whispers that had started again.

Cassidy sat a few seats away, glaring at him.

He knew he had to find a way to fix this, but he wasn't sure how.

The bell rang, and Mrs. Castellanos began her lecture.

He tried to focus, but his mind kept wandering back to the confrontation.

Was this the beginning of the end?

Or just a bump in the road?

He had hoped that by leading the festival, he could avoid the painful plot points of the novel.

But maybe that was just wishful thinking.

The class dragged on, and when the bell finally rang, he felt a sense of relief wash over him.

He quickly packed up his things, eager to escape the tension.

As he turned to leave, he felt a tap on his shoulder.

It was Misha, his eyes filled with concern.

"Hey, are you okay?" He asked quietly.

"I'm fine," Nathan lied, flashing a forced smile.

Misha's gaze searched his, and he leaned in closer.

"You know you can talk to me if you need to."

Nathan's heart skipped a beat.

He hadn't expected anyone to be on his side, especially not Misha.

"Thanks," He murmured.

"But I think I've got it handled."

"Okay," Misha said, not looking entirely convinced.

"But if you change your mind..."

He nodded and slipped out of the classroom, the weight of the world seemingly heavier on his shoulders.

The hallways were empty now after all, most people wanted to hang out in the cafeteria with their friends.

But Nathan

He needed to be alone to think.

The library was his refuge.

Nathan found a quiet corner and pulled out the festival planning notebook.

It was filled with his ideas, scribbled thoughts, and the beginnings of a new life.

But now, it was tainted by Cassidy's accusations.

He closed his eyes, trying to push the negative thoughts away.

As he sat there, the pages of the book flipped open in his mind, revealing the plot points he had tried so hard to avoid.

The betrayal.

The heartache.

The drama.

It was all still there, waiting for him.

The sound of the library door opening made him jump.

When he looked up, he saw him standing there.

Carter.

"Can I sit with you, Nate?" Carter asked.

Nathan nodded, his heart racing. He hadn't been expecting company, especially not from someone who knew about his secret.

"Look, I know things are weird right now," Carter began, taking a seat beside him.

"But I just wanted to tell you that I'm here for you."

Nathan's eyes snapped to meet his.

"What do you mean?"

Carter took a deep breath.

"Nate, I saw the noose in your bag."

Nathan's eyes widened in shock.

He hadn't told anyone about that.

And it wasn't for killing himself.

It was to tie up Cassidy if she doubted his ass again.

"How..." He began, but his voice trailed off.

Carter's eyes met his, filled with understanding.

"It's okay, man. I won't say anything. I just wanted you to know that you're not alone."

The words hit him like a ton of bricks.

Here was someone who knew his deepest, darkest secret, and instead of running away, he was offering support.

It was a feeling he hadn't experienced in a long time.

Even though he wasn't suicidal, it still felt nice that Carter cared.

"Thanks," Nathan murmured, his voice thick with emotion.

They sat in silence for a moment, the only sound the rustling of pages from nearby readers.

"So, what's the plan?" Carter asked, breaking the silence.

Nathan looked at him, surprised.

"Plan?"

"You know, with Cassidy bullying you. Nate, you should of told me. I wouldn't have hang out with her if I knew she grew up to be a bully." Carter said.

Nathan felt a warmth spread through him. It was the first time someone had called him out for being a victim, and it felt surprisingly good.

"It's not that simple, Carter," He replied, his voice a little shakier than he would have liked.

Carter leaned in closer.

"Look, I don't know what's going on with you and her, but you can't let her push you around. You're better than that."

Nathan nodded, feeling a renewed sense of determination.

"You're right," He said firmly.

"I'm not going to let her control me anymore."

The two of them sat in silence for a while, each lost in their own thoughts. The library was a comforting place, filled with the smell of old books and the faint murmur of pages turning. It was a stark contrast to the chaos of the school hallways.

As they talked, a new idea began to form in Seraphim's mind.

If he couldn't change the story by avoiding the plot points, then maybe he could change it by embracing them. He could face each challenge head-on and prove that he was more than just the character he had been forced into.

The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day.

"So what to go for ice cream?" Carter asked.
