The next few weeks were strange for Aiah. Ever since her conversation with Mikha in the office kitchen, things had shifted between them—but it wasn't the kind of dramatic change that was easy to explain. It was subtle, like the shift of the wind before a storm, and only she and Mikha seemed to notice it.

They had both agreed to take things slowly, to see where this new dynamic between them might go. But there was something else, too—an unspoken agreement that they would keep whatever was happening between them quiet. It wasn't that either of them wanted to hide it, exactly, but Aiah knew their friends would have a *lot* to say if they found out. Gwen and Maloi, especially, would be relentless with their teasing, and Aiah wasn't ready for that. Not yet.

So they slipped into a strange sort of rhythm, caught between familiarity and something new, something tentative. It was a slow burn, one that neither of them was in a hurry to ignite too quickly. For now, they were content with stolen moments, with shared looks across the office and late-night text messages that veered dangerously close to flirtation without quite crossing the line.

It was an odd balance, one that left Aiah feeling both exhilarated and nervous at the same time.

It was a Friday afternoon when the group of friends decided to grab drinks after work. The office had been buzzing all day, people excited to wind down after a long week, and Aiah found herself looking forward to the distraction. She needed a break from overthinking everything with Mikha—though, of course, he would be there too.

As she gathered her things, Maloi popped her head over Aiah's cubicle wall. "Ready? Gwen's already calling dibs on a booth at the bar."

Aiah smiled, slipping her laptop into her bag. "Yeah, let's go."

The two of them walked out of the office together, meeting up with the rest of the group outside the building. Mikha was already there, standing with Colet and Jhoanna, laughing at something Stacey had said. Aiah's heart did its usual flip-flop when she saw him, but she kept her face neutral, not wanting anyone to pick up on the way her pulse quickened every time he was near.

"Hey, Aiah!" Colet waved, grinning. "You're just in time. Mikha was telling us about his latest disaster in the break room. Something about spilling coffee everywhere?"

Mikha rolled his eyes, giving Aiah a knowing look as she joined them. "Not my fault, by the way. The machine is out to get me."

Aiah couldn't help but smile, though she tried to keep it casual. "Sounds like operator error to me."

Mikha shot her a playful glare, but there was something in his eyes that made her feel warm all over. It was the same look he had given her in the kitchen that day—the look that said there was more to their banter now, something simmering just beneath the surface.

But no one else seemed to notice. As the group headed to the bar, Aiah fell into step with Gwen and Jhoanna, doing her best to act as if nothing had changed. The last thing she wanted was for anyone to start asking questions.

---

At the bar, they settled into a large booth near the back, ordering drinks and appetizers to share. The atmosphere was light, filled with the usual mix of laughter and teasing that came whenever the group got together. Aiah found herself relaxing, sipping her cocktail and enjoying the easy camaraderie of her friends.

But every now and then, she felt Mikha's eyes on her, and it sent little shivers down her spine. She avoided looking directly at him, not wanting to give anything away.

"Okay, confession time," Gwen said suddenly, her eyes gleaming mischievously. "What's everyone's secret workplace crush? Come on, spill. I know you all have one."
