The doctor's office was located a couple of blocks from the school, and with our injuries, we decided that walking would be our best option. There was a silent agreement between the two of us that we wouldn't call our parents for rides, because this was not exactly common behavior for either of us. Our parents would be completely disappointed.
The walk to the doctor's office was a quiet one. I was still incredibly angry with Zach for kissing me, and I'm sure he wasn't too happy about his possibly broken nose.
Once we reached the front doors of the doctor's office, Zach walked ahead of me to open the door for me. I nodded my head in thanks and continued on. We walked past the waiting room and to the front desk to check-in.
"Hi there. Here to check in?" The lady asked.
"Yes. I'm Aria Chandler and this is Zach Matthews. Our school nurse called in for an appointment earlier." I replied.
"Ah, yes. There you both are. You'll be seeing Doctor Schwartz today." She said, as she stared at her computer screen. "Each of you will need to fill out this form and hand it to the nurse when she calls you."
I grabbed the two clipboards and handed one to Zach. I looked back at the lady to see if there was anything that we needed to do, but she had already gone back to typing information in the computer. I walked over to the waiting room and sat down in the corner where no one else was sitting. Zach followed and sat down in the chair right next to mine, but remained silent as he looked over the form we were instructed to fill out.
I scanned over the form myself which consisted of basic background information, such as weight, height, age, birth date, etc. I quickly filled out the form with all my details and then set the clipboard aside. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Zach struggling to fill out the form as he had to keep his head tilted back so that blood wouldn't drop on the paper. His nose had stopped bleeding for the most part, but if he didn't keep it at a tilt, some blood would still drip out of his nose.
"Here, let me help you." I said, grabbing the clipboard and pen from Zach's hands.
I quickly began filling out as much information as I could, as Zach looked on to make sure everything was correct. It was weird that I remembered so much about Zach when he hasn't been in my life for the past year and a half.
Once the form was finished, I gave it back to Zach to sign and picked up People's magazine from the table next to me. I did a quick side glance at Zach, who was actively watching the television which was showing The View. I rolled my eyes and laughed remembering how much Zach secretly loved the show.
Ten minutes had passed when the nurse finally came out to the waiting room.
"Aria Chandler and Zach Matthews?" She asked, reading our names off the folders in front of her.
Both of us? That's weird. Usually they call patients back one at a time, unless they are family.
Zach and I slowly got up from our seats, clipboards in hand, and followed the nurse back to one of the rooms. She took the clipboards from us and motioned for us to take a seat. She asked each of us if we had any allergies or have a family history of any diseases or cancers. Then she typed the information into her computer.
"Okay, that should do it! The doctor will be right in to see you." She smiled and exited the room, closing the door behind her.
Then there was two. The silence was almost deafening as we just sat there staring at the walls, waiting for the doctor to come into the room.
