Summary for Chapter 9 (Suzume)

The next day, Shuichi finds himself in the dining hall with the rest of the class, not including Kokichi. He tells them her name, and behind confirming, they all seem happy. Then they tell Shuichi what they found. Diapers and they figured the baby food was not poisoned, after encountering a Monophanie who told them there was nothing wrong with the baby food.

After the explanation, they all discuss what to do next. Kirumi is feeding Suzume while they talk about Suzume. Maki is seemingly telling them they should design a schedule for her, and they all look at Shuichi for his opinion. Shuichi agrees but asks them how exactly. That was when Korekiyo spoke up, telling Shuichi that Suzume would need a total of 14 hours of sleep in a 24-hour day as they take mostly naps, her eating and playtime schedule.

There was a bit of surprise as to why Korekiyo knew this information but Korekiyo decided that shouldn't matter. After all that information, Kaito reassures Shuichi that everyone is going to help him by teaching him about all that and he isn't alone. Everyone agrees with Tsumugi telling Shuichi how she will take the role of making Suzume's clothes, and Angie will make the toys for Suzume.

Finally, Shuichi finishes the idea by talking about a crib for her to sleep in, because last night, he stayed up, watching her sleep in his bed because he didn't want her to fall. Some agree but Miu wants the baby to have her room so everyone can visit her. This is where Ryoma, Kirumi, Maki, Kaito, Gonta, and Kiibo disagree, explaining that it's too dangerous to leave a 5-month-old baby alone, they have a small argument but Shuichi decides that a crib is a better Idea because he wants Suzume with him, Kirumi hands the baby to Shuichi, burping her.

After that, Shuichi listens to Miu who explains that she will finish the crib by tonight, this is until Tenko lets out that Shuichi should be there with her to decide how the crib should be designed, there was some glaring between the two with Tenko explaining that it just makes sense because she doesn't want Miu to create a design to her taste. Shuichi doesn't seem to want to, as he held onto his daughter but Tsumugi explains that maybe this will be the chance for all of their classmates to be with his kid, but only if he wants to. Knowing he already had his daughter yesterday, he thought why not, handing the baby to Tsumugi.

Once he turns to leave with Miu, Suzume starts to cry loudly, not wanting anywhere near Tsumugi. Tsumugi freaks out but with the help of Kaito who takes Suzume away and holds her, she calms down, letting Shuichi be confused as to why she cried in the first place but the others wave it off, thinking it was probably being given away from his father. (it wasn't, looking at you Tsumugi).

The chapter ends with Shuichi, Miu, and Korekiyo who wanted to join them, leaving the dining hall. Kaito happily holds Suzume as the others watch. Maki, Kirumi, and Ryoma softly smile, Korekiyo observing, Gonta, Angie, Kiibo, Tenko, and Himiko happily cheer as Suzume giggles at Kaito's dumb attempts to make her laugh. Tsumigi watches them all, keeping a fake smile on as she grips her hands tight.
